Help needed with 6o' clock sonds

Post by srinjayray »

Hi!!!

I have a show coming up with my band. I use a Korg TR. We have 6o' clock in the song list. It would be really nice if someone could help me with the layers and parameters for the sound (with which the song starts) used for the same. It sounds to me like there has been at least an organ and a distorted guitar with high gain being used. What are the other probable sounds used for the layerings???? It would really be a great help if somebody could at least suggest me some tips for the same.

Thanks.

You should have told that's 6 o'clock by DT :O

The way I hear it, it's an organ, probably some rock distorted one.
There is a notion of high response which is the almost instant ATTACK of its EGs, so play with the EG too.
The distortion of the organ seems to vary over time, so, i.e. set the velocity to be the AMSource for the distortion, but keep it light so sound variation isn't too obvious.
That way you'll achieve that sense of flanging/phasing effect without having to use flanger/phaser in effect section at all. And you can do that too.

To make it short, use any preset heavy organ, Full Drawbars or Dirty BX3 etc., move the 1st knob in the B mode counterclockwise to increase the rotary, or do it manually, then set that AMSource, and tweak the settings in MFX1 (HiGain) to your liking, to distort it appropriately.

You can skip all this and experiment with combining the sounds in combi mode to make it more complex.

Try it out, and let us hear the results you got.
