Replacement of my LCD screen

Post by Agone »

Hi everybody, i have a korg trinity plus and my lcd screen is dead ( the touch pad is dead, the screen still works but i can't access to any function with the touch pad which is sticked on the screen if you follow me 8) )

Well, so I need to buy a new one, would you know where i could buy it, and how much would that cost ? Is it easy to replace by myself or do i need to have it made by a shop ?
Thanks a ton

Hello.

I'd give KORG France a call on the phone to see if they will sell you one direct, but if not, a new screen costs $225 and you can get it here. http://www.guitar-parts.com/products/23 ... rinity.htm

I would not recommend installing this yourself though. To access the screen you have to go in from the bottom and pretty much pull out all the Trinity's main boards. It's quite a big job so I'd expect to pay upwards of 90 Euro to have it installed.

Kind Regards
Sharp.

Try This before you replace the LCD:

First try GLOBAL triangle "calibrate touch screen" from the top right point. Tap the squares in the two opposite corners until they turn black. It might take a couple of presses but persist. You might want to use a stylus.

If this does not work then enter-5 on startup (wipes out your presets) and scroll to lcd tests. hit start button, go through the screens until you get to the blocks. Use a stylus to select each of the 5 blocks and move to next test. Persist until all 5 blocks are highlighted. You might hang up a few times. Turn the machine off, wait a few minutes (5-10 minutes or an hour) then restart again with enter-5.

Re-start Trinity normally and go back to GLOBAL triangle "calibrate touch screen," tap the two squares and the touch screen should function normally again.

When I received my Trinity the touch response would stall after 5 minutes of no activity. It took a few resets and calibrations but now the touch screen responds as normal, even with three lines through the LCD...

It is always best to change a setting or a patch every few minutes to prevent a stall.

I hope that this helps, enjoy.

HI, thanks to both of you for your help.
The touchpad is really dead as some water went inside, one of the members of my band did that by mistake... the screen still works but the touchpad is really dead.

I will try to buy one directly, is it hard to change then ?

Thanks again

If it still beeps then it will still be alive, Mine went and I just had to replace a fuse on the mini circuit board for the screen. It is soldered onto the board, is green and has fu1 next to it on the board.
It is a little tricky to get to as you have to take everything out.
It is not that bad to do, if you are unsure just take step by step pictures with a digital camera. A new fuse cost me £6. You will need to be able to solder.
