Problem with nanoPAD + Reason 4

Post by fant0mas »

Hi dear fellow nanoPAD users,

I have a slight problem with my brand new nanoPAD when using Reason 4.0.
It´s not a manufacturer problem, as I have gotten the pad to work before on another computer and in different programs.

However, I have now received my new laptop with Windows 7, and installed my copy of Reason there.

When I first hooked up my nanoPAD to that laptop, I actually forgot to properly install the KORG USB-MIDI drivers, and Win7 just installed some of their own plug-n-play drivers, and everything installed correctly and the nanopad was recognized by BOTH WINDOWS AND REASON!!

However, without the Korg USB drivers, I couldn´t get the Korg Editor program to work, as I wanted to change the pad layout to different MIDI notes.
So I installed the newest Korg USB drivers, and used the Korg Editor to load a new scene set up to the nanoPAD.

-> Now I can´t get Reason to get any signal from the nanoPAD anymore!!

I even tried rolling back the driver to the plug-n-play one from Microsoft that worked previously, but even that won´t get the pad to work anymore with Reason.
I´m pretty clueless with Reason (first time I´m really ever using it) as well as with MIDI use in general, so I might very well be missing something important here...

Actually I also suspected that maybe it´s just the new scene set that I uploaded that caused the error, but unfortunately I did not save the default scene setting anywhere and can´t find it on the internet (korg website or anything) either! :-(

If anyone could help me out with this one, that would be great. If you need any more details, just ask and I will provide them as needed. ;)

Dont ask me EXACTLY how I did it, but I got it to work now...

I fiddled around with the Master Keyboard settings in Reason and deleted the device I already had in there (the one that was added when reason booted up for the very first time on this machine), and re-added one from manufacturer Korg to a "not-listed" device with master control keyboard blabla.

Still not sure if that is exactly what fixed my problem, since I already re-installed all drivers and software (except for Reason) before I restarted my machine - so if anyone knows what EXACTLY I did right this time, please don´t let me die stupid! ;)

I think I know what you did right...

The nanopad is recognized as a keyboard not as a control surface, so there we go. I guess you chose keyboard instead of control surface, may be that?
