Hi,
I'm considering buying 64mb RAM for my LE to get a better piano sound. I've heard you don't need the exb-smpl, cause it's only for editing the samples, which you can do with a program on your computer. Correct me if i'm wrong. Where do you get good piano samples from (are they free?), and how do they compare to the sounds from i.e. a stage piano?

Thanks for the answer
I ordered 64mb ram from ebay yesterday, and looking forward to get it. I've downloaded many many samples (steinway piano, strings, yamaha upright etc). The things is that when I open the samples in Awave for listening to the sounds, there is only samples of B0, F1, B1, D2, F2....etc. And it's the same with all my other samples. What's the deal with that? Am i supposed to pitch them myself?

in most samplers there isn't enough memory to have a sample of every key. instead every fifth or every other or on some sample sets, only every octave is sampled, the sounds in between are stretched.
when you load them into awave and make a KORG (or any other instrument) multisample from them (I think it is called a keymap or a instrument in awave?), it will automatically set the stretching regions for you, although you may have to set the note values first if it can't pick them up from the filenames.
Also, just to clarify: you didn't buy the RAM to 'save' your samples did you?
the RAM is like on a computer (in fact it is and old format of PC ram) - it is fast access storage space where the synth can access the waveform data on demand, but looses its contents when turned off.
samples are loaded to the RAM when you are using the keyboard (you have to load multisamples or an 'all sampling data' set manually I believe), but to store them you need a storage card - i.e. on the TR an SD card.

I have a SM card where I store my pcg files, so no, I didn't buy the ram to store my samples on. So you mean that as long as the note value in Awave is set correctly, the keyboard will pitch the samples automaticly?
And another question: The Steinway sample consists of a right and a left sample (2 kmp files). Do i need to make 2 programs and create a combi, or can i just use them in each of the oscilators in one program?
