Live 8 can't open Legacy AudioUnits on Intel Mac

Post by futureimage »

Hi there,

I've installed my Korg Legacy pack (original, boxed MS20+Poly6+Wavestation edition) on to my Mac using the installation disc and then updating to the latest software. Everything is validated and I can run the standalone synths fine, but when I go to use them in Ableton Live, I get the following error:

"Failed to create the Audio Unit 'MS-20'
This Audio-Unit plugin cannot be opened"

I'm new to Macs originally using Windows but converting over to a MacBook. I'm running OSX v10.6.2. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,
Finlay

I would suggest contacting/phoning Korg UK Tech Support.

I have the same problem and the same software / controller bundle running on MacBook Pro with Snow Leopard. I also have the Digital Edition which I upgraded and it runs fine without the dongle. Analog Edition synths work stand-alone but plugins do not launch in Abelton Live.
I tried uninstalling, removing plugins from library and reinstalling (several times ... wasted a couple of hours!!) but have the same problem. I also accidentally installed the Analog Legacy Edition (which I did not realize was different from the original software/hardware bundle) so I hope that didn't screw things up. I think the naming of these bundles and upgrade process is convoluted.

The original LAC-1 is is not compiled as an Intel executable - it is only Windows (x86) and Mac (Power PC).

The standalone runs because the mac has a PPC > Intel translator for applications but not for plugins/extensions/components, etc.

I believe there is some upgrade, possibly paid for, to get it to work.

In the system requirements you'll probably see it mentions mac PowerPC (PPC) and not anything to do with Intel processors.

x-trade,
Everything was working - plugins as well as standalone until I tried to upgrade to the non-dongle version. I wasted another couple of hours on this tonight ... trying tech support now.

I'm having this same issue now that I've switched from PC to Mac, has anybody been able to get to the bottom of it?
