The 4 chord pads and midi

Post by CJ4ever »

Hi all,

I am planning to upgrade from Triton Le to M50 (not tomorrow, but in a few months). Already have been trying few times and comparing the M50 in a local musicstore.

I know now already that with the M50 I will miss the ability to play sample-phrases, which I can do in my Triton Le.

Luckily I still have my Boss Dr. Sample SP-202 (maybe some of you know it, some may not. Just a nice little unit with buttons to play samples/phrases)

So I can still bring that sampler to gigs along with the M50. The sampler has its own audio-outputs etc., so no worries. The only thing is that I have to put it on the right side of the M50 (eeehm does anyone know if it fits there ?)

My concrete question: is it possible to assign the 4 chord buttons with midi to trigger 4 sample pads of the SP-202 sampler ? I searched around this forum but could not find a specific answer.

If yes, then it is very nice and I can put my SP-202 on the ground connected with midi.

If no, I have to put the unit on top of my M50, but do not prefer that. :?

Hope this question is clear.

Thank you.

Hi,

The only thing I can think of is to look into the librarian and see what you have for assigning capabilities for this. I wish the M50 had a sampler option but at that price range it couldn't happen. I picked one up recently as I sold my other 2 I have (Triton Ex and V-Synth (older one)) to my girlfriend and really wanted the M3 but being out of work I couldn't afford another $900+ out of pocket so I went with the M50. It isn't that I really need a Sampler on it, it'd just be nice to have is all.

But getting back to your question, I'd check in the manual as well as the librarian documentation to see if you can set them to individual channels vs chord playing and see if you find anything. That'd be really nice to know as well for additional stuff to use via MIDI to a DAW system.

I haven't done this myself but you can change thte MIDI channel the chord triggers use. That should do it. The parameter guide says Program screen 1-8.

anyway keeping the Boss on the M50-61 may be difficult... there is not much space free on the front panel and the existing one is not flat...
