ESX-1 can you switch part without unmuting?

I expect this has been covered but I can;t seem to find anything helpful..

While playing live on an ESX-1, is it possible to switch to a muted part without un-muting it?

No i dont think you can.
I normally kill the volume as soon as i switch to a muted part. I think there are other workarounds though.

MAYbe if you hold the shift key? That selects it silently, a good trick.

but I don't have one set up right now, so I can't be sure
if it un mutes it or doesnt


I usually use the solo button instead of the mute -
to select something else, quickly un solo and re solo in a microsecond.


It's too bad the solo button un-does the mutes when you un solo...
but if you really want a part to not sound, just quickly
whip the volume down.

Indeed - shift does select a part silently, but if it's muted it still un-mutes it.

I'm surprised at this behaviour, even if it was the original firmware I'd have exected it to be changed in subsequent releases. I guess I'll have to work around it.

I'm curious though - is there a feedback mechanism to korg to request features in firmware updates?

I find this really annoying too, I wonder what they were thinking (or not) when they decided to make it do that
Dunno if there's any feedback thing, you could always just send them an e-mail.

hey, you can do a fast doubleclick on the part your would like to select while holding the part mute button. not perfect but it works...
