Is there a way to keep the input open without hitting a key?

Post by mantras »

I had a Korg R3 and as i remembered, to let sound flow through the inputs if i wanted to use it like an effect processor - i would have to strike a key to keep the envelopes open.

Is this the case with the Radias? Is there an input mode were it lets sound through even though the envelopes is not triggered?

No but there are a number of workarounds.

I usually set the program to monophonic (can still use unison mode to achieve stereo input processing), turn the arpeggiator on Trigger, and latch it.

You can also set the envelope follower in the 'common' edit pages to trigger a certain note when input goes above a certain threshold. in fact you can set up to eight notes for it to trigger, good for an auto-vocoder effect, possibly triggering the arpeggiator (hmm, I'm going to have to go and try that now!)

Note that the first suggestion would also work on the R3. And on the radias the two methods could be used together, to keep the input open after the initial triggering. and of course you can increase the envelope release, easily making a gate or compressor effect!

I think there are many untapped possibilities in Radias effect processing. I've done a few guitar amp setups, and intend on doing an audio-input library at some point, after I finish my analog and digital sets.

Hi!
I use to use the R3 like a multifx for my bass. I use to keep the damper in latch mode and press some notes, after that I played my bass.
It is too slow for changing from a fx to one another... but it isn't a real multifx for guitar/bass.

To use the EGs with my bass guitar I use a bass to MIDI converter
