PA800 is producing noise

Post by sanalc »

Hi,
My Korg PA800 is giving a hissy noise with all instruments. Its like 'zzz...' an FM radio which is not tuned properly. I am unable to use the keyboard because of this. Anyone has any idea why this is happening ? A few more hits to isolate the issue are:

The sound appears on all instruments
The noise increases with master volume increase
Amplifier and power supply seems to be ok
The noise appears in head phone also

Can anyone have any idea which section will be causing this issue ? Mine is out of warranty and I have opened it fully and checked. I can't see any physical damage to any components like a burnt resistor or a leaky capacitor. A bit techy thing.
I cannot afford Korg service centre charges. If anyone can give a hint which card might be wrong, I can order and change that card from Korg

Any help is appreciated
Thx

Mine started to do the same thing. After hour or two of playing it makes that hissing noise on all voices ROM or RAM, even when not playing at all. I'm looking for my receive to see if i still have the waranty.

Thats bad, so its a manufacturing defect ? Korg should look into such issues if such problems come for more people when they sell expensive product

Have you tried the obvious things like re-loading the operating system and resources?

My pitch bend is working fine.
And yes charlie67 i have tried the obvious things like all kinds of reloading and resets. One more thing that i noticed is, that the led on MIC button is flickering when the board is making that noise. I lowered the gain on the inputs but it didn't help.

Hi, sorry for late reply. I was busy with work and didn't get time to look into forums. My pitch bend works fine. I have notice only one additional problem. The front USB doesn't work. It detects stick, but doesn't read. But the rear one works fine.
I had reloaded OS to 2.01 after formatting. Still no luck. It could be something before amp. either DA converter or pre amp or anything. Or might be the TC helicon voice processor.
All the voices are working, but with the zzz noise. I couldn't use the keyboard for about 2 months. Korg service centre said they will charge £60 an hour and an inital quote fee of £30 + spare parts. I am sure the parts might be in the range of £200 +. Puretech solutions quoted £75 for service, but they are far for me, Swindon. Cimple Solutions quoted £150 for minor faults and if not they will give quote.
Since many users are having the similar issue, may be many not in the forums, Korg should look into this matter and contact us or replace the product with a non faulty. I have already told many of my friends not to buy Korg again.

After you switch on the keyboard, is the sound there automatically?

OR

does it appear after you've pressed a key on the keyboard?

No, when I switch on the keyboard it is working fine after 1 or 2 hour start making noise with playing drums.
Then I have to restart the keyboard.

If its making it after some time.. I think you may be lucky.

Check out my post a while ago... Some Sounds cause Hanging/Freezing/Dont Fade

Once this happens, try pressing... SHIFT + Start/Stop and see if the sound goes away.

It it not making some times , when I turn the KB on it is working good for almost one hours then start making noise after that I can not use the keyboard.
But it is doing only with user instruments not with the factory instruments
I load the factory Global ,didn't help if that is a ram problem is it possible we change the ram?
I don't know what to do I can't use this keyboard any moor.
