Electribe EMX1 problems ..help !!

Post by stormshadow21 »

Hi guys
just wanted to say hello and introduce myself to you all.
Im a keen avid Korg fan and having a few issues :-(

Im new here and korg told me about this site to see if anyone has had the same issues i have with my EMX1 .

Basically my EMX1 goes crazy when its on a pattern ,this being like it says knob movment or other parameters when im not even touching my EMX1 .

Im not sure what is going on with my EMX1 ,i purchased it in july 2008 .
I have spoke to Korg and they said it sounds like a encoder or rotorary encoder is worn and need replacing and its sending to much data to the processor back and forth :(

Now im out my warrentie too :(

Korg said i can take it my nearest dealer or give there spares team a call for pick up and quote to repair the problem .

If any one has had the same problem with there EMX1 let me know .

Sounds like one or a number of the rotory dials on your tribe are dirty or worn out. The electribe thinks they are continually being jittered up and down when they are not.

Only options available are to send it for repair to korg endorsed repair shop or Korg themselves
Buy the rotory dial parts from korg and replace it/them yourself or try cleaning the ones you have
or
swap the dials with ones that you dont use, and arent linked to the processor, the audio in volume control comes to mind, if you dont use it.

In order to see how big the problem is you need to work out which dial or how many are causing it. How many parameter names do you see appearing when the values change? one? like filter? or does it flick between several?

Me too  This is really not a good thing. The emx is really great, but i'm just not sure if I want to splurge another 500.

btw that parameter fluctuation is a bugger because you never know when it's going to happen...i could pull my hair out!

Well if its several parameters changing simultaneously it sounds more like a problem with a part called an encoder. It is unlikely some worn dials would make them all change value simultaneously with periods of good behaviour inbetween. If you are familiar with midi, you could try midi ox program to measure what exactly is happening when it occurs.

Jittery dials normally cause one or two parameters to flicker occasionally (or continually), not all at the same time.

Propaganda, can you not use your paypal/ebay guarantee to start a dispute with the seller?

Thanks for the info, but actually I blew it..I waited too long. It's been 40 days and the SOL expires at 45 days. It's my own fault because I knew after the first week the parameters were going buggy. I would have to contact the seller first...he did put down on the page "no returns" I should have known when he didn't post any feedback. Well the bottom line is--you won't see me putting this up on ebay...not doing that to anyone.
