Maybe I am just getting old....
I need to find a synth (with a decent sequencer) that gives me the sounds I want as they originally come. I don't want to spend 1-2 hours fiddling with effects - they should transfer into the sequencer as-is. I don't like having to go back and putting all the effects in. The copy from combi option takes up too many tracks. The Template song option has been done too many times......
What about Yamaha? Roland? other synths? are they all miserable when it comes to screwing up the effects?
I am not a computer programmer! I just want to make music! It should not be this difficult, right????
I should trade my Triton synth for a ???????

Recording music is a technical process.
You wouldn't go into a studio and complain that it was all to complicated would you?
Effects are just a part of mixing and etc. You could consider that the effects in program mode are a bonus to make it usable in program mode. There are certainly advantages to doing the effects yourself as it makes you think about what actually works in your track. It is all a part of the process of mixing.
If you don't want to fiddle with effects then don't put any effort in and don't copy or program them. You'll end up with something that sounds like you didn't put that level of effort into mixing, which is true.
One solution to work around the effects though is to record using audio tracks into a computer workstation, if you like to work that way.

Re: I should trade my Triton synth for a ???????
I'd suggest sticking with Korg, since you know it... and the newer workstations work so similarly to the Triton series. M50 would def give you what you want here. Also, Roland and Yamaha's effects UI's are even more limited than Korg's, you don't get quite as many options as to what effect to put on each track...Korg's FX system is a lot more versatile.shanny wrote:Maybe I am just getting old....

As far as messing with effects ... the M3 has the ability to save effects presets (M50 may also), so you can just call up the effects you want. Also, you can copy effects from combinations as opposed to copying the whole combination to a sequence...you can do this in the Triton as well. I'd suggest setting up user Templates with the effect configurations you use often so you don't have to mess around with the FX as much when you're sequencing.
Korg Kronos-61, Nautilus-61, 01/Wfd, SONAR Pro
I also agree with sticking with Korg. I used my Triton as my primary workstation until about a year or so ago. I picked up the M3 and the M50 and there is almost no learning curve other than learning the new features.
The M3 and M50 are very very very similar. The big improvements that the M3 offers over the M50 like sampling, XY mode on touchscreen (which they could implement on the M50 of they wanted to but that's just a tiny rant), aftertouch, and improved keybed are some of the more common key differences.

try a computer software synth and connect it via midi
I use a MINI MOOG software program on my laptop, to make it easier I have a tablet laptop so I can draw on the screen, that makes it really fun when writing midi notes and data, and easier when adjusting the virtual synth knobs, thats the one problem with software synths, adjusting the knobs and controls is frustrating cuz it is no way as fast as doing it with your fingers on a real synth.
But it is son inexpensive to use a software synth and connect it to the KORG TRITON.
I use synth programs MINI MOOG and TRIANGLE 2 and a music recorder program, CAKEWALK MUSIC CREATOR, then just interface with the TRITON, its great, its doubles the efficiency of recording and editing tracks, it will help with creativity and progress.
Its great to cross reference with a laptop midi program that records the midi data.
But I just cant get rid of my Triton, thought about trading for a synth, found some on ebay for around 300 and thats a great price for 1000 dollar units like KORGS ROLANDS YAMAHA etc... just dont get a CASIO ha ha ha
laterzzz
