Another MIDI question

Post by samartin »

OK I'm going to sound a right div but I need to ask, as it may save me a little cash. I've just bought myself an Alesis Micron and now need to buy new cables as the inputs/outputs are using the larger 3.6mm jacks and not the normal RCA connectors!

When connected bia MIDI, are the generated sounds sent through the cable or do I still need to have the audio connections setup?

BO! It's Brian Bedonde, surely thats "bia bidi". Sorry about that.

Anyways, from what i understand midi only sends control signals and no actual (RCA friendly type) audio.

Haha I love Brian Bedonde, my fave character! BA!

Ahh thanks, I did suspect it would be the case, but thought I'd ask the Pro's before thinking about ebyaing the cables. Only just discovered that Maplin are really expensive!!

Yeah, just couldn't resist - especially at the ungodly hour I spotted your post.

What is this Alesis Micron that you mention and what does it do?

As you can see I'm probably not classed as a "pro" as you said, nice to hear though. Keep calm and carry on :)

Thanks Pastor,

I will read up on that, looks very informative :)

@Bazildon, Alesis Micron is a keyboard, I was thinking this or the MicroKorg XL, as I wanted to expand upon the KPro. Love it so far, I just now need to learn to play keyboard!

Pastor:

I have: Emu xboard 25 1 midi out
Korg KP3 1 midi in and USB out

My question is: Why did not detect the pc the xboard MIDI?

KP3 can't transmit the MIDI ?
