Where Can I Get Replacement Keys Symphonic Piano 80S / EPS-1

Post by squiggledog »

I have a Korg Symphonic Piano 80S that I think was made in 1982. I am new to the keyboard scene.

My roommate's dog broke 2 of the black keys with her tail. The tabs on the end broke off of the keys. I think all of the black keys are the same part. Where can I find replacement keys for my keyboard? It looks like the one here: http://www.keyboardmuseum.com/ar/k/korg/s/sp80s.html

I paid $120 for it at a pawn shop. Is that a close to its value? It is also missing the sheet music holder and appears to have broken cord-winder tabs. I'd like to get another sheet music holder for it.

Yup, 1982 is the launch date, so is roughly 28 years old. I don't think they made spare parts for it anymore. I would try Ebay, but I won't hold my hopes up for it. Try a local Luthier and ask him for advice. Or maybe an instrument repair shop. You might have to resort to adapt or glue the key back.

Good luck

Thanks for the response. I was hoping these keys would be interchangeable with more common vintage Korgs and therefore easy to obtain as replacement parts. Maybe I'll have to plastic weld them and then grind the area to reshape them.

Apparently it uses the same keys as the EPS-1. Image

those keys are fairly common. I believe they are the same all the way up through the DSS-1. The M1 on were different.

Let me see if I can find the link I have for spare keys. They are available...

Thanks for the link! None of those keys match, but I emailed them to see if they have them.

It looks like I will need to either rebuild my keys with plastic material and a dremel tool, have a place make a mold so new keys can be made, find another Symphonic Piano 80S or EPS-1 to use the keys from, or trash this keyboard and find another. :(

Sigh. It looks like these keys can't be found anywhere. Would anyone want to buy keys from my keyboard if I part it out?

I searched for a long time to find a vintage keyboard with more than 61 keys that I could afford, and then the dog breaks the keys and they are obsolete.

I also have a key problem - bought a TR61 in May used; same day got into a car accident and 3 white keys got smashed. Never even got to play the thing! Korg doesn't supply these keys anymore. I also emailed the link and inquired, and am waiting for a response.
You'd think Korg would have some units left over to part out..

If anyone has or knows about TR61 (or 77) keys, I need a white G, A & B.

Thanks

I moved the broken keys on mine to the very ends so it's once again playable (except for the rare occasions in which those keys must be played). It looks like I should start saving up for a different keyboard, one for which I can actually get replacement parts.

My roommate surprised me with an identical Symphonic Piano for Christmas! It even came with the music holder and sustain pedal mine was missing. Between the two I can make a complete one and have spare parts.
