WOW!!! how I wish that they can do it in the USA... I have a question for all does people who did the upgrade ... after you guys did the upgrade didnt have a problem with RAM?? or what you guys will do if there will be a problem with RAM?...

In a way, I don't see the point of having 256MB or 1GB of RAM because then your loading time would triple, quadrapole etc.. etc.. so its still a hassle.

Only if Loading time was cut down, then those figures would be feasible.

The problem is that you can handle 30 giga if you like but the user pages are still fewer....otherwise if one want more than 2 giga I think he will have to have more than 3 user-pages say a book of user sounds :wacky:

there is o.s. with 16 drum kits and u can always owerwrite factory sounds...

point is that u have more space for quality samples.... i have some samples, each of them is 8-10mb and they are very high quality so there will be more storage space for that.... and u can always load those compressed sounds and samples and make 1000 of them in 10 mb of space but thats not it!

Down with korg's limit of ram memory.... in age when average ddr2 module cost 1gb - 10 euros.... they put 64mb of ram??? Thats monopolistic behavior, isnt it?

Nowadays even the internal memories on Digital cameras and Cell phones are bigger than what Korg has put on their products, especially Pa800, But apparently they have done it intentionally to sell their new products by putting a few extra MBS of memory and some extra features.
I hope they would make this Ram upgrade an official option for Pa users and have some creative changes and features for their upcoming models, not just increased Ram or a few extra user banks.

I agree with you 100% Moebrand , now days small toy cameras has more memory then our PA800 . in regard to Nor I disagree because we need more ram for sound quality for example I bring down all my sounds from digital down to 16bit mono a lot of people likes to create there own sounds and samples otherwise no need to buy PA800 keyboard their is a lot better keyboards with much better quality out in the market . Nidem since you have a info regarding the upgrades will you please tell us if it is available in US . since it is available all over the world.

thats what im talking about.... we should be creative in music... but can i be with 64mb ram, when i can only put 10-15 quality samples on that little space.... i dont wanna compress samples so they sound like telephone ring.... KORG listen to ur users!!! Make ur keyboards user expandable with memory modules....

I don't know why korg not providing the ram expansion or provide the service to their customers . it is no secret any more if an ordinary person can do that then Korg have no excuse to not provide the service and part to the customers.

I think many of us are not really understanding the real issues here.
The type of memory found in digital cameras etc is slow readable/rewriteable memory - it is not instantly available to the processor.
The only memory your keyboard can use instantly is ROM or Ram. The ROM contains factory samples and Ram your user sounds. THe keyboard's processor must be able to address this memory at extremely high speeds in order to use it effectively.
As you know when you modify a factory (or even User) sound you are not changing the stored PCM but only the parameters controlling how the sound is delivered. So while the parameter loading can use slower type of memory (SSD re-writable memory) it is still addressing the Rom or Ram instantly.
Herein lies the problem. The keyboards processor can only handle a limited amount of "hot" ready to go memory.
This is how I understand it at least - I stand to be corrected.

It's not important whether keyboards use ROM or Ram or whatever.
The point it upgrading it and expanding it.
It shouldn't be impossible or so hard, should it be?

it is not about ROM or RAM it is about people needs in pa800 keyboard.yes, I understand there is pa2x but a lot of people like me don't like 76 keys no speaker and heavier keyboards. it is possible to modify it then why not, those who did it it is working fine.I cant wait untill someone dose it in the US.

Now as I saw, the "update" is actually a USB Stick adaptor.
So if they put a 256mb... maybe it works because the software is able to work (as PA2X or M3).
But if the change it with a 1GB USB stick, does the OS knows how to work with a 1GB Memory>>???
Maybe it shows 1GB , but does it "load" and "work" with 1GB sampling?
