Best Korg for Pads

Discussion relating to all other KORG synth related products that don’t have a dedicated section. For example, OASYS PCI, M1, N Series, 01W series, T series, and more…

Best Korg for Pads

Post by michaelg »

Ok guys, a good old newbie question for you. Am after the synth with the best pads. I have a Wavestation EX and the pads are amazing. Was just wondering what you guys think. Would you say the pads on the Triton beat the ones on the Wavestation? Would it be worth me trading in the Wavestation and getting a Triton instead? I can't really afford to have both a Wavestation and a Triton at the moment as money's tight, and I've narrowed my search down to these two, so which is it to be, the Wavestation or the Triton? Or any other Korgs that you guys think are the best Korgs for pads?

Thanks

The vector joystick of the Wavestation really allows you to morph various sounds for almost endless paddage satisfaction. I wouldn't trade it - perhaps only replace it with the VST version (more polyphony).

I would say that Z1, featuring XY pad which enables lots of intricate modulations, can get extremely nice pads as well, even if it doesn't have samples as its sound source.

So, I'd say that if there's a Korg synth which can top Wavestation in complexity and execution of pads, it's gotta be OASYS (features a vector joystick as well).

Thanks for the reply mate. Thought I could have got a good thread going there but guess not! Perhaps this has already been discussed elsewhere.

But yeah the Wavestation is definately an awesome synth for pads. Was just wondering whether other Korg synths lived up to it in the pad department, or whether it really is in a league of its own. Like whether the Triton is a good contender for the Wavestation when it comes to pads?

Cheers,
Mike
