microKORG looping and layering.

Discussion relating to all other KORG synth related products that don’t have a dedicated section. For example, OASYS PCI, M1, N Series, 01W series, T series, and more…

microKORG looping and layering.

Post by Bradywoodruff »

I own a microKORG and have been playing it for nearly two years. The problem I have is that I have never quite figured out how to loop a track I am playing with the synth itself. The other is that I can not find out how to layer sounds over eachother, even though in the demo songs that come on the microKORG feature it such as in the 7th demo.

You can't do it on its own.

The microkorg is a single standalone instrument more akin to a guitar, whereas if you wanted something you can produce entire tracks on, you need a workstation such as a Triton or the newer M3 or M50.

Yeah. Any kind of looper.

The new Kaossilator Pro is actually great for looping, and would give you another interesting/unique to play new instrument at the same time!

A guitar pedal would work but the disadvantage is that most guitar pedals only have mono input, not stereo like the Kaoss pads.

as a guitarist i can recommend the boss loopstation. probably cost you about £150 plus its worth investing in a power supply too. its built like a traditional 'stomp box' i.e. you step on the pedal to initiate / stop recording. getting used to using it can take a bit of trial and error but theyre worth a look.

Hey there...

Sure a Kaossilator pro will work for looping but please beware that the maximum loop lenght is only 16 beats.

Trust me that gets filled up reall quick......you will need more loop time, and there is now a Jam man stereo by Boss that you should look at.

Help please! Related question...

I have a MicroKorg, a Kaossilator (the small yellow one) and a Boss RC20 XL loop pedal. I have the MicroKorg hooked up to a pair of cakewalk speakers.

My question is, how do I connect them all together? I've had a right stress on and can't seem to do it. I'm a complete technical novice and don't know my tit from my elbow. I'm a trombonist by (musical) trade so electronics really doesn't come into it. Actually, on that point, does anyone know if I can connect my trombone to the korg via a silent brass system?

Cheers.

I suggest that you buy a minimixer of some kind, so that you can mix together all your audio sources to be sent to the looper, then out to the speakers.
