Hi - I just had similar problem with setting up my Radias, but it is all working now.

Sounds like you have the Korg USB-midi driver installed if you can connect with your R3.

You now need to install the Editor (downloadable from Korg website if you don't have the CD).

There is an instruction manual (HTML) included in the download. You need to look up the setting up section which tells you exactly what preferences you need for the midi connection options.

You should then be good to go. It worked for me anyway on the Radias, so good luck!

On my Radias (I'd imagine the same goes for R3) the factory default was that Write-Protect was enabled. This is basically to protect the presets while it is on display/demo.

You have to disengage it in order to start writing things. The manual will tell you how.

thank you guys.

i looked before but i didt see it.

here is the answer:

Write protect setting

The R3 provides a write protect setting that
disables writing to memory, letting you
prevent data from being rewritten accidentally.
If you want to save data that you have
edited, you must first turn write protect off.
Procedure

1 Hold down the [SHIFT] button and
press the [8] button.
The main display will show a screen
where you can select protect on/off.

2 Turn the [PAGE] dial to switch write
protect on/off.

3 When you have made the desired setting,
press the lit [8] button or [SHIFT]
button. The R3 will return to the Play
mode. If you decide not to execute the
operation, press the [EXIT] button.

write protect error

Post by popnick »

I'm an experienced synth and R3 user and I recently encountered the message wrtprtct error on my display when trying to load sound banks from my computer into the R3. I've never had this problem before. I know how to disengage the write protect feature, but now when I try it gives me that error message. I also tried to google it and I didn't come up with anything.

I've tried to factory restore, but it gives me the same message. Anyone have any ideas? Pretty frustrated... I think it might be a hardware problem now.
