working the vocoder on radias.

Post by cyleetron »

can anyone help me with trying to work the vocoder on the radias? i was able to get it to work only a handfull of times and it would work one min, then i couldnt get anything to come out the next. i am aware that you must hold down a note for sound to come through the vocoder and i would experiment with different vocoder settings and channels and only some would work but not always.. very frustrating :x

Hi,

since you have joined this forum recently, I will suppose you are not very familiar with vocoders at all. But to use them, it is fundamental to know what exactly a vocoder does. There are several articles about how a vocoder works and you should read them if you really want to use it.
Once you know how it works you can look at my homepage (footer) and get some valuable infos how to set and "drive" a vocoder. There you can also download some Radias patches including vocoder ones.

If I am wrong with my supposition, I apologize and would be glad to dive with you in that matter. Otherwise it would make little sense if you don't are familiar with vocoders and their basics.

There is a tiny slide-switch on the back that lets you switch between line, mic, etc. and then you may need to adjust the level with the trim pot next to the socket.

....Actually looking now my switch is broken

trim pot??? Help! my trim pot was stolen

No there is no trim pot there, but I wasn't sure without taking a look at it tonight.

The switch is for DynamicMic/Line/KondenserMic in that order if you do it from the front of the Radias.

Haha, sorry.
Yeah, I was just thinking without really looking. I used to use a microKorg, and I've got an ES-1 mkII, both of which have a little trim pot on the back.

On the Radias I believe it is on the front panel? I'm still writing without having actually looked at it though.
