Korg M3 as midi controller without module.

Post by kd7gkn »

I bought the korg m3 88 a few years ago but for the last couple years have only used it as a midi controller. I really like the action but the fact that it takes a minute for the module to turn on before I can even use it is annoying since I'm not even using the module.

So my question is: Can I some how plug midi into the keyboard itself and put the module in my closet?

but the MIDI connectors are on the module itself... and the cable in the keybed is a proprietary cable, not a MIDI cable, that only fits the M3-M and the RADIAS.

Thanks for the responses and I guess your right. Its just that I could sell the module for like 1100 but the keyboard is only going for like 2k used. So its only 900 more I'd make from selling the whole thing and I actually really like the keybed.

one option is missing in the poll:

"using a different controller with the m3 as a sound generator"!

Which is exactly what I'd like to vote

BTW: I'd NEVER use the M3 as a midi controller. It's definitely not what it's made for - and it shows
