Limiting Polyphony in a Program
Is there a way to limit the polyphony in a program to, say, 8? In other words, when I hold down 8 notes and then play a 9th note, the first note I played stops playing. This is desirable as it allows me to better emulate older synthesizers. I did an end-to-end search of the parameter guide with keyword "polyphony" and didn't find the answer.
no, you can't do that

YAMAHA W5 + TRITON proX (exb MOSS / exb PCM01 / exb PCM05 / exb SCSI / 64Mo) + M3-73 No.000187 v2.0 (exb Radias v2.0 / exb M256) + DOEPFER LMK2+
AKAI DPS16 + MINDPRINT Envoice + ART Dual MP + RODE NT1000
BEHRINGER DDX3216 + 4 MACKIE SRM350 + 2 MACKIE SWA1501 (+ PEAVEY KB300 )

I could call Joey "Sciosciammocca" Crapanzano and Ferdinando "Slim" Affatigato,
and have them cut your little fingers off. That would limit polyphony to 8.
They did that for me once, when a not-so-wise guy didn't return an OB-8 within the established deadline.
24 hours later he came crawling and delivered an OB-12.
The 4 extra voices (nice 50% surcharge for 24 hours), we didn't compute as "interest",
just as a gift, a sign of Respect for the Family.

Unfortunately we soon discovered the ob-12 voices weren't voices at all (in the ob-8 sense): the whole thing was a scam from a guy nicknamed "The Viscount".
The man currently sleeps with the fish.
