mapping styles on new drumkit

Hey guys,
I have a lot of styles that are based on various drum kits. The drum kits are really similar is sounds and quality so I would like to get rid of most of them and only keep a couple of main drumkits.

The issue here is how do I map the styles from the old drum kit to the new one? I manually edited a track and using the dial I started changing the notes to whatever I found appropriate. That worked but it was sooo tedious! Is there a software where I can change the notes in a find/replace fashion? e.g. replace all C2 by F#4 .. etc

the short answer is NO!

You will need to manually change/remap them.

I know I sound ambitious here, but I cannot do a find replace in a hex editor? The .sty file must have these notes listed somehow. I suppose I have to suck it up and do the manual work

I strongly suggest that you work on that kind of project in an external sequencer. You can do all that in no time.

Sam, i wont really recomend that either, thats even worst, that way he has
to go from Style to MIDI then back from MIDI to Style then Editing and Mixing
all over again...i dont know.

What I recommanded was for a drum track that needs a lot of editing. For minor adjustments, it wouldn't be a good idea. I've done this for a lot of people who wanted to clean up their keyboard. The last keyboard i worked on, had a lot of styles that were using a different drum kit for every element..even Fills were assigned to different drum kits. Every kit was mapped differently,so it was a huge mess. That's pretty common for oriental styles that are floating on the internet...
In any case, I export the midi, open it in pro tools..fix all the crap,and then import back only the drum track back into an empty user slot..Then, copy only the drum track back into the original style. For me that's a lot faster than going the other way around. Again, I wouldn't go through all this for only minor adjustments.
