3 defective m50's, in a row, out of the box!!!

Post by Korg Lover »

Just a heads up fellas, from a LONG TIME Korg fan, I bought THREE new in-box Korg M50 88's, and ALL were defective.

First one, ONE key (Highest C)--out of box--the only problem.
2nd m50 wouldn't even boot up. only joystick light lit up.
3rd, lost the Program Mode Button backlight, within 1 week.

Now on my Fourth m50, happy to say, all is well. At least G.Center gave me a good deal at about $1445 for the 88.

Lost about half that in gas :)

New to the forums, don't normally knock Korg, but had to mention these m50 issues. What are the ODDs of getting 3 defective keyboards consecutively?

Oh, dear, Murphy must be your cousin or brother. Such bad luck is difficult to see. For that reason cross you fingers not to fry the two famous capacitors.
100% hardware made. All is done in a Korg M50 internal sequencer. Now updated (7/09/12) at http://www.hispasonic.com/akmon

I feel your pain.
I just shipped mine off for the third time for repair.
The first time was 3 months after I bought it.
Second time was about 2 1/2 months ago - it was at the repair station for two months, and I just got it back on January 25th.
I just had to ship it off again today, because the original problem happened a couple times (again), and something happened to the joystick the last time it was in for repair. When it came back last week, there was a definite "clicking in the joystick when you moved it from far left to far right. Wasn't doing that before.
Gear:
Korg M50-61, Kurzweil PC1SE, Korg Tr-Rack, Soundcraft EFX8, 2xBehringer B300, Traynor YCS90, TC Electronic Nova System, Alternate Pedalboard, Strat, Tele, Hagstrom Swede, Condenser Mics, Stands, Cables, Harmonicas, Tambourine, and last but not least, the invaluable Swirlygig!!!

Hey, I have the same issue, but I gave no importance. My warranty has just been expired. Is it a big problem? I can play normally, except for that little clicking from center to right.

I don't really know, but I do know that it wasn't doing it before. It feels as if a spring might be catching slightly on something.
