Triton Rack & controller or M50-61?

I'm coming ath this question seriously; I currently have an M50-61, but unfortunately I'm a bit spooked now, due to a couple serious repair issues I had. No damage on my part, just stuff that went wrong. It just got back from a two month stint in the repair shop, waiting for a list of parts that had to be replaced.

I'm considering selling the M50 and getting a Triton Rack and a midi controller board.
The reason is that I believe another controller would be physically more sturdy that the M50, AND I've heard some triton boards being used in concert and the really sound great.

If I'm correct, the Triton is 60 voice ployphony(?), the M50 is 80.

As more experienced Korg Triton Rack users, can you give me your opinion as to whether this would be an OK decision or not, and why?

Much better decision, triton sounds amazing even compared to the m50 if you ask me! plus you get a sampler! and if you get a good controller you can use after touch and what not.
I read somewhere in the m50 forum that someone once got THREE BROKEN OUT OF THE BOX IN A ROW. thats a true ode to the build quality.

If you get a good controller (korg makes some good ones!) with faders, wheels, and most importantly to ME some kind of increment buttons (to select patches) then you are good to go! also anotherrr concideration would to get a korg karma (you can get em cheap) they are a great build and you will have not onlly another sound source if you choose, but you will be able to cycle through patches easier.

TR-Rack's the better choice... IF!

If your controller choice is full feature - you basically want to have at least as many front face knobs/wheels/pedal choices as a triton.

If you can get EXB's 2nd hand - the rack can hold 'em all, and if you install them all your sound palate is more than the triton extreme -- especially look for the vintage synth and techno boards.

If you have a true editor AND a program librarian... not having the touch screen for quick edits is a pain - but there are lots of great voices here in the download section.

If you carry a spare power supply.

If you can pick up two! (yes the prices are going that low... probably down in the $300 range.) Redundancy is a good thing sometimes.

dont forget sample ram and a scsi!
look up fourniersean on ebay, he sells prime sample ram for cheap for the triton
i dunno where to get the scsi thing, the rack might already have it.
either way get a zip drive, and go to my website (in my signature) and download some cool stuff i have for the triton line!

The Triton Rack sounds AMAZING, I have compared the sounds to a Roland Fantom and the sounds just sound way richer and fuller, if it can be described that way. I got a Triton Rack for $250 US, I think a good deal, then little by little (saving money) I started getting the exb sound cards, I have all nine exb cards and was lucky enough to find the exb-scsi card and a scsi zip drive for $120.00 so now I have a cool setup maxed out with 96mb RAM for sampling. For a controller I use the Akai MPK49, its is well built and has aftertouch and velocity control and buttons, knobs and slider to control just about any function. I am very please with it. So if you can find a Triton Rack for a good price, I say go for it. Just my opinion....

may i suggest this for a controller..it has all the faders, all the switches, korg X+Y joystick,
onboard sequencer, arranger keyboard, velocity, aftertouch sensitivity, and much more..
