recommended stand?

Post by ephemere »

Hi, I just ordered a Wavedrum Oriental. Can't wait to start playing!

While I'm waiting for it to arrive, I'd like to get a snare stand for it. Can anyone recommend a good one? I'm not a percussionist, so I don't know much about percussion hardware.

Ideally, the stand would be adjustable enough that I or my young kids could play either standing up or sitting down. I read here that Korg's own stand does not go too low, so I think that's maybe not the right stand for me.

Thanks!

I placed my order for the Oriental this morning, as well. Can't wait!

I searched for the most stable stand I could find... don't want the Wavedrum wobbling around as it does in some of the demos I've seen.

Check out the top-of-the-line Pearl S2000 Eliminator snare stand... that's what I'm going with. I don't know if it can be adjusted for a comfortable height when playing standing up, but my primary interest is in a solid stand for sitting down in the studio. Good luck!

P.S. - Just searched and found that Pearl makes a height extender tube just for their S2000 and S1000 stands! So with a little extra effort, you should be able to get to a good standing height as well. I won't be ordering my stand for another week (one paycheck at a time!) but will pass along a user's review just as soon as it arrives.

Thanks. I was actually just looking at the S1000 when I checked the forum and saw your reply! If I end up getting that stand before you then I'll post my thoughts.

Sounds good - the S1000 should be solid as well; I just tend to max these things out.

About that extender:

"Pearl's TX100 Tube Extender turns any 7/8" tube regular snare stand into a concert height version. Tube is 13" long."

So that pretty much clinches it!

Ah, thanks for that reference. I didn't find the TX100 in my own research, so that was very useful!

I'm using my DW snare stand, which has been sitting in my garage for years.

I bought a used zildgin. I notice you have to be careful to how it is set up in relation to the placement of the three legs.
