Controlling the KP3 with a DAW (Sonar X1)

I recently connected my Kaoss Pad 3 via USB to my DAW (Sonar X1) to controll it with the sequencer.
Well, I got it hooked up and it is transmitting and receiving MIDI messages. I can controll the pad axes per CC12 and 13.
The Problem is as soon as I give any CC92 messages to the Kaoss Pad (for example with the synth programm selected) it starts triggering the effect/synth but won't release as if hold is activated (it is not).
Isn't there any Pad Off command? Shouldn't it stop playing when there is 0 transmitted on CC92?
Also I would like to know if I can change the effects with MIDI messages.
I am pretty confused now. Have the Kaoss Pad for quite a while but always used it with hardware. Software sequencing of the KP3 is something completely new for me.
