Strange freeze

Post by pandel »

Hi!

Yesterday evening my OASYS froze 2 times while testing and selecting programs. I was playing a sound, opened the selection window and stepped down through the various programs. When I hit OK, the window closed but there were still some parts of the window left on screen and nothing worked, no button, no touch screen. I had to turn it off and on again.

At first I thought it might have something to do with me pressing the damper pedal while changing sounds, but the second time I didn't even touch the pedal and it froze...

I had some freezes years ago before I updated the OS to 1.3.3. Until now everything was fine, but those two yesterday made me a bit nervous. The O is stand alone, so no external influence (MIDI connection or whatever).

Did anybody notice a similar behaviour over time?

EDIT: No USB stick/hdd connected!

Korg has a issued a general freeze order on all outstanding Oasys keyboards,

pending the release of the Kronos.

By April 1st all existing Oasys will be deactivated by remote and will have to be returned.

Contact your local dealer for details.

Maybe your Oasys was one of the first being issued the freeze command.

You subscribed to the remote deactivation program when you activated the Oasys engines.

:D Oh sh*t! I thought, that the Korg FreezeSwitch feature (like Apple killswitch, you know) couldn't get active while I'm connected to the Inet via WirelessMidi

Mmmhh...

Seriously (for a change) I have had the occasional freeze although it is a while since it happened to me and I can't remember what I was doing at the time. The Oasys is computer based and so I guess we can expect the odd freeze now and again. On the plus side, I used my Oasys more than 200 times live and it never let me down 8)

Thanks. Then I'll wait and see. It's just because I never really had any bigger problems with my O and I really don't want that to change ;-)

Pandel, if the problem persists, I would check the RAM.
Maybe swap it out with another.

If you have the 2GB installed, you could try to remove 1 of them and see if it still freezes. If no, then you know that the RAM module you removed is the one causing the faults.

My O, has never glitched, nor froze at all, but I got one of the latest models.
.....Still waiting for the allusive, missing EXf for Oasys.....

Thanks, Hedegaard, I'll keep an eye on it. I have 2GB installed from the beginning and as I said everything was fine. Perhaps it was just some sort of mainboard hickup. We'll see...
