How to edit sounds and load it into Trinity Rack?

Post by Bart S. »

Hi guys,

I just ordered a Trinity Rack (but didn't receive it yet!). I already searched the forum but didn't get answers to my questions:

1. how can I edit sounds on my MAC (or do I need to boot into Windows?) - with Sound Diver?
2. I found several sources, where you can download Programs/Combis - how can I "merge" these sounds - for example program A001 from source A, A002 from source B, etc. - also with Sound Diver?
3. how to transfer programs/combis into the Rack? Can Sound Diver (or another program?) do this via sysex data?
4. which cable do I need? Can I purchase any USD-to-MIDI Adapter? Will this work - or do I have to use the to-host-port? (I didn't find a USB-to-host adapter cable).

Thank you in advance! :D

I'm not into MAC's, so I cannot be of much help here, but I'll try my best...

1, 2 and 3 yes, SoundDiver would be the best tool to do this. There's also Trinitro that can do quite a bit of it all (if not all). As much as I know, SoundDiver was available for the MAC and its last accessible release might well support the TR. However, I'm not sure what it'll do in Windows on the MAC. For me it works fine on WinXP SP3 on a Dell machine.

4. the TO HOST connection used to be the MAC user's dream. You only needed a printer cable to your MAC's port and were all done. Unfortunately, however, Apple abandoned the serial port and it is hard to find nowadays a current MAC with such port. However, if you want to use the TO HOST connection, you should be able to do so by getting an USB/RS232 converter and a PC TO HOST cable, connected together. IT would be better, however (in my opinion, without knowing the MAC) to use a plain USB/MIDI cable.

Hope this helped.

Thank you for your quick reply!
On my MacBook Pro, I can boot into a Windows 7 partition (64bit), so I think SoundDiver will run here. I will try using a USB-to-MIDI adapter and hope, it'll work :D

Best regards
