Backstory: I am playing this song currently with my band, you can check it out at our facebook (link at bottom)
Basically i am playing this long epic part with my Jimmee Dee patch, but then when it repeats i use my lead from my radias. but its a VERY fast change. and the radias can lag a little when you change programs (effects wont come in correctly)
so then i had an idea today during rehearsal.... What if I during the Jimee Dee patch.. I have my triton do the program change to the radias but have the amp level at 0... and when i switch patches.. have it not send the program change message but raise the amp level back to 127...
And to my surprise.. it worked!
I thought i would share this, as its a very useful trick for me now.. and i will be using it very much!
More in depth
(Triton as master board)
Combi A000 : jimme dee
Timbre 1: Jimmee Dee Volume (mixer page) 127
Timbre 2: Radias Lead Volume 0 (it will not sound)
*press pedal for program up*
Combi A001: Lead
Timbre 1: Lead Volume 127
Midi filter page, take off program change for timbre one.
Also, so my jimmee dee patch (or any patch.. since the triton has no patch remain) doesnt cut out so abruptly, im using my external reverb on my triton so when i switch patches it doesn't sound TOO bad (it sounds 90% better)
Thought ide share this cool trick i discovered today!
The song im talking about is our song "Into The Howling Dark" Notice how the intro riff repeats itself later on in the intro, that part has been changed to a lead sound
