Looking forward to the purchase of Kaossilator Pro
I placed the order for my Kaossilator Pro yesterday.. despite all the negative reviews I have read.. and users complaining about its shortfallings. Yes I do love my arpeggios... and having the same arpeggio pattern function of the original kaossilator would be much used by me (I have yet to try out the kaossilator but will do so when I return home to SA as a friend recently picked up a second hand one and is LOVING it) I have had the KP3 for about 8 months or so and I can say without any doubt that it is the most fun piece of gear I own (all my friends agree) I dont think any piece of gear can capture peoples imaginations quite like the kaoss series.. plug it in and hand it to anyone and within minutes they'll be in love with it. (it can be likened to musical fingerpainting) I am certain the KoPro will be a much loved addition to my setup and will provide many hours of enjoyment for me and my friends. I'll be scouring the forum for useful tips and hints to get the most out of it. Thank you all in advance for any knowledge I may acquire from you. =]

small gripes:
having to hold down a bank to record - limits 2 handed performance for drums
no set sample record timing (all done with holding pad unlike KP3) - needs precise timing at end of loop... but at the same time allows you record any 'tail-ends' of delay or reverb to give a smoothe continuous loop, so its a + and a -
biggest gripe : cant switch sample banks on/off while using touch pad, well you can but i always seem to get a little clip recorded into that bank.. unless there is some other way to do this WITHOUT taking my finger off the pad and without getting a little snippet of pad-sound recorded into the bank when switching samples on/off
HUGE PLUS: infinite over-dub

I very much agree - the infinite overdub is by far my favorite feature on the KPro. As for your small gripe - hitting the record button and then a bank button will arm that bank for recording. No need to hold that bank button down. The big gripe, however - no real workaround for this one, just get in the habit of taking your fingers off the pad before enabling and disabling banks.
I've had mine for almost a year, never once regretted the purchase. Enjoy! (Any favorite programs so far?)

still going thru all the programs no major favorites yet, still finding techniques of getting the most out of every one... and what they are best suited for. the hit record doesnt work so well when you have audio going thru it and only want to record whats coming from the kpro =P as for my big gripe i guess i'm gonna have to train my coordination to release my finger from the pad just before the end of the bar, turn a bank on/off then hit back on the pad on the first beat (if using a pattern/drumloop/arp) all in all i think that Korg left alot of extra possiblilities out on this one... things that just one or 2 extra buttons (or shifted button functions) and programming could have solved... and yes i realise they used the same chassis of the KP3 before people start moaning at me
i think i can work around most issues when i use it in conjunction with my KP3 (a combination that in my eyes is greater than the sum of its parts)
another small gripe: no true 'hold' button.. is there a way to return to the held position after it has been "let go" without trying to guesstimate where that point last was with your finger on the pad?
still have to read thru the (very short) manual a few more times incase theres things i have missed and scour the forum for any tips and tricks that can help me get more out of it.
i'm thrilled with my purchase and i am certain i will be getting many many hours of enjoyment out of it, and happy to include another intuitive piece of gear to my setup so i can get my less experienced friends jamming along with me. they're already in love with my KP3
the kaossilator pro is a great little piece of kit!!!

so i've had my kaossilator pro for a couple weeks but barely had any free time to play around with it.. decided to try recording some stuff with a mic. I only have my cruddy headset mic here with me so i plug it in... nothing just temporary clipping nastiness when i jiggled the jack to test if it was just loose. so i plug the HEADPHONE jack in the mic input.. and voila.. using the headphone speaker as a super lo-fi mic.. and it works but doesnt respond well at the higher frequencies.. who cares it sounds cheap and nasty and i like it!
must be an impedance issue with the mic. will test it out on my laptop tonight to see if maybe the mic is busted.
oh and i am in love with my kaossilator pro
really cant wait to get this baby back home to meet the rest of my children (microkorg, kaoss-pad3, sp404) I'll be working on some jams with it and will post links to anything worthwhile that i upload.

such a pity i just cant for the life of me get the editor to work (cannot find KP3/KPRO error)
.. I'll figure it out one day. i've read a few threads on here about fixes. but for what i'm using them for now its not that urgent. But a mate (who now also ordered himself a kaossilator pro after seeing mine) really wants to be able to use it as a MIDI controller. He has never been able to get his KP3 editor to work either so i directed him here for assistance. He's far more into MIDI than I am... but when i get home it'll be time for me to get on the right page with MIDI.. especially when i have my MPC1000 (which is taking forever to arrive)

yep... STILLLLL waiting. oh well.. its not so bad i still have my EMX and Dj controller with me and still learning my way around the kaossilator pro. maybe its getting sent from Japan or something
i better test it with a geiger counter when it arrives.
but the MPC would definately open up a whole new window of possibilities especially seeing as i'm working on some projects (hard-as-hell remixed tracks) for a VJ friend and i dont like software anymore
EDIT: software feels a bit like cheating to me these days (even tho i am using virtual DJ with my DJ controller but i see controllerism as an extention of hardware... just look at Ean Golden as an example

yes i did. the latest one. I'll figure it out in due course. Will only really need the editor software to function with the kpro and kp3 when i want to use either as a MIDI controller. at the moment i can still use it to setup samples.. correct BPM and save the 4 as a group to then load on my SD card which is all i really need to do at the moment. I'll wrap my head around the problem when the time comes to do so. I'm sure i'll get it to work eventually. Think it might be a combination of problems i have read on here... or maybe just one. maybe i should get it sorted this week so i dont have to bother with it again

had a mini jam session last night: kaossilator pro, kaoss pad3, MFB 503 drumcomputer, nord modular virtual analogue synth rack, EMX, MPC.
The kaossilator pro and kaoss pad3 are such a great team
but
I noticed something with the kaossilator and the kaoss pad 3. when playing at BPM around 100 the kaossilator only samples 8 beats (and rightfully so as stated in the manual) but the kaoss pad still samples a full 16 beats
also looping samples seem to stay more tightly timed with the kaoss pad than on the kaossilator pro. and a few times once turning off all the samples on the kaossilator pro.. the samples lost sync with the rest of the gear completely (even tho MIDI sync'd)
my mate managed to get his kaossilator pro editor to work to set it up for MIDI control.. was the "sys-ex" so i'll try that tonight failing that, dig deeper into potential driver setup issues.
PS: i'm still waiting for my MPC

yeah...the KO Pro works best midi to the KP 3. It all works best if the KO Pro runs the midi clock (so I have read but I have not noticed a difference either way).

well it looks like the MPC 1000 is completely out of stock via the suppliers of the local music store here.. stock will only arrive in AUGUST!!!!
not so good seeing as i'm leaving in 3 or 4 weeks... so cancelled order and got my deposit back... BUT.. consolation the MPC 2500 'special edition' does happen to be IN STOCK (which is what i was looking at getting originally til i saw the price of the 1000 had significantly dropped).. taking delivery in 2 weeks
they better not funk this order up too!
they phoned their supplier and said maximum 2 weeks for delivery.
