when i bought my KP3 second hand it didnt have the orignal power adaptor. I bought one new from a reputable music store even tho it WASNT the same adaptor as the one that my friend lent me from his KP3 (original adaptor KA-203, 12V 700mA) they sold me a KA-310 adaptor which has a lower amp rating and is meant to be for the X50, MicroX, R3, MR-1000 (12V, 500mA)
and assured me that that is the correct replacement adaptor based on their experiences. It works fine with my KP3, but i am wondering if the difference in amp rating might affect the speed of the internal clock... i would think it does. But theres no way of being sure without testing results with both my adaptor and the original part.
i know this may be redundant if i am MIDI syncing my KP3 (or could there be other undesirable effects occuring?) but i also use my KP3 as an end effects processor for audio from my MIDI-USB software mixer (hercules DJC Mk4) and therefore no MIDI syncing.. only set BPM (unless i can figure out a way to have virtual DJ send MIDI clock info to the KP3)
the Hercules DJC has no MIDI out (only USB to PC.. using MIDI signals tho, has no internal MIDI clock that i know of)
apparently the MIDI clock function has been available in Virtual DJ since v6.0, unfortunately the version that came with my controller is a very watered down version of 6 and does not have such options... ok, i'm starting to veer off into a whole other topic now tho.
any thoughts on the power adaptor situation?

If it less it might burn out the adapter or even the KP3. I had this problem when I got my SH-201. SamAsh sold me an adapter with less milliamps and it burnt up, the adapter.
Korg's website says
"Power Supply:
DC 12V; 700mA"
I would bring it back or go to a hardware store and get an adapter with the correct 12v's and 700ma to be safe.

yeah i think you're right. last thing i want is my precious KP3 going kaput. I'll have to order the CORRECT adaptor while still here in Austria cos its highly unlikely i'll find one in SA. They insisted the adaptor they wanted to sell me was sufficient as one of their employees had been using one for a long time for his KP3.. even after emailing back and forth repeatedly that the original adaptor is 12V 700mA rated.
i took the risk and it works.. but for how long and how well? I'll get a new (Korg CORRECT spec) adaptor asap... and in the meantime.. my KAOSSILATOR PRO ARRIVED! picking it up this afternoon
just in time for tonights jam session

and what adapter was supplied with your KPro?punpkomg wrote:my KAOSSILATOR PRO ARRIVED! picking it up this afternoonjust in time for tonights jam session
i live in Eastern Europe and my KP3 was shipped with KA310 - the same adapter was with my R3, when i bought it second hand
R3's power specs are:
DC 12 V, 6.5 W via AC adapter model – (adapter) 500405015300 & (3 prong cable) 600007300/KA310
12V 500mA Center Pin (+);
both my KA310 are marked as 12V 1.5A (1500 mA)

also i found this KA310 - http://www.guitar-parts.com/catalog/kor ... and-others
also 1.5 A
on the same site KA203 is mentioned as an adapter for KP2 and KP3
http://www.guitar-parts.com/catalog/kor ... -kp2-kp3-0
but anyway - KA310 works perfectly with my KP3
more ampers is not more volts
