SV1- first major problem...advice needed

Hello folks,

After one year of heavy use and gigging, I have finally reached a problem. Last night, during a gig my B just below middle C collapsed. I press it down, and it stays down. Anyone have this happen? Is it something I can fix on my own? Any and all experience with this will be much appreciated. Thanks.

I would suggest finding your nearest service center. I fear having any issues as I do not believe there is a service center anywhere near me at all. I can't imagine having to pack up this monster and ship to repair. Too bad they don't make more things user servicable!

Same thing just happened to me last night. The Bb above middle C just collapsed. I've had mine for about a year as well. Going to try to get in touch with Sweetwater and/or Korg today. I'll let you know if I have any luck.

The tech said it looked like something was dropped on my keybed, which broke the keys near the hammer part. He was surprised and seemed to believe it was a solid build. He ordered 2 new keys and replaced them. It cost me 100 dollars. No problems since.

Just got the SV-1 back from a Korg service center. The key needed to be replaced. They weren't really sure what caused it, but its back and good as new now. I was still covered under warranty, so it didn't cost me a thing.

Good to know it can be fixed pretty easy! How long was your board out of action for?

Can't remember if I'm under warranty or not - my SV1's about 18 months old.

I'll log what happens here.

Hi folks. So I just bought a brand new SV 73. Yes, I now own two. One is kept in studio, and the other is used for gigging. On the brand new one, at start up many of the keys offer no sound at all. I have to turn it off/on, off/on/ off/on until it fires up and every key sounds. Anyone else experience this?

It sounds like the Valve warming up mate - how long does it not sound for?

...Plus, I've found if you switch sounds, i.e. Rhodes to Clav and back, you'll get a sound out quicksmart.

*edit* ...I see - only some of the keys? Yeah, that does sound strange.

I had the same problem, very intermittently, with some keys not "waking up" when the unit was first powered up. I didn't try turning the power switch on and off as someone suggested, but I just kept playing the dead keys repeatedly and eventually they would all revive. Sometimes it seemed to take almost 5 minutes.
However, after owning the unit for a year or so, I got a message saying the battery was needing replacement. Since replacing the battery, I haven't had this problem. I would suggest replacing your battery, as it will eventuslly have to be replaced anyway, and see if that helps.

I now have another problem with my keyboard, but that is for another post...
