KP3 vs. Quad as an effects processor
Hi,
i am thinking of buying an effects processor to be used with my Radias. Today I was testing out the Quad pad but wasn't really impressed by the limited effects and options available.
I'm looking for deeper effects and tweaking options, and I'm afraid that what Quad has to offer will end up short..
Does the KP3 have more effects with more options (different reverbs, distortions, loopers.. etc) than the Quad?
IMPOTANTLY, can I stack effects on top of each other like on the Quad pad? I could not find this anywhere.
Thanks for your help.

Important to note, however, is that many of the effect programs in the KP3 are actually combinations of several programs (up to three effects in one program, if I'm not mistaken).
So, I'f you are disappointed with the Quad, you most definately should check out the KP3. I have the Quad myself, and think it's great. I'd also like to get the KP3, but since I have the MiniKP as well, it's a bit hard to justify

the possibility of combined effects in the KP3 is what interests me, something that can vaguely be compared to the layering function of the Quad pad.
i guess it comes down to testing the KP3.. it's a shame that no shop here has it for display or testing.
the quad was indeed very fun to use. i'm just scared that it doesn't have enough to work with in the long run.

Huhhhhh???? yeah kp-3 has no live combined effect feature nor are there 3 effects in one program (where are people getting this from???). The only way to get some form combined effect is when you continuously re sample the same sample but with different effects...not very live. The quad offers having real multi-effect abilities. I really think this is a test product for an up coming KP4.Mack wrote:the possibility of combined effects in the KP3 is what interests me, something that can vaguely be compared to the layering function of the Quad pad.

There are combined effects in the KP3. They're just preset. Same as on the mini-KP (which you are better off getting if you just want effects, and not sampling).
For example:
BPF + Delay
...actually there are probably others but they don't come to mind right now.

The miniKP has 90 effects, 30 which are combos.
Here are a couple:
Ring Mod+HPF
Flanger+Delay
Slicer+LPF
Delay+Reverb
Looper+Decimator (my favorite)

I can't wait to get home. I actually miss my KP3
of all my "toys" i've had the most fun with the KP3 and I have the feeling it will be a constant in any of my perfomance setups, both for live-production and for DJing.
There's nothing else like it (as a whole) out there.

Actually, no it isn't. Its officially abbreviation is "KPQUAD" according to the Korg registration website. I think they are saving KP4 for the real thinghazabikit wrote:The Quad is the KP4...SMK wrote:I really think this is a test product for an up coming KP4.

M4 is for a really big thing!
SONAR X3
lets hope youre right!
basically, my choice for
kaoss 5 would be: based on kp3 with loopers, ( even more tracks, plz?)
effects in modular style like Kp quad, that is very slick.
More synth patches from KO pro range!
"auto tune" / vocody / harmony voice options, XLR input
BATTERY POWER, darn it!
see my video review / demos of KP quad with the KO pro.
great machines, these.
