Radias Sound Editor not working in Snow Leopard 10.6.8?

Post by acemonvw »

Hi all,

While I have no idea why there are always two MIDI IN and two MIDI OUT to choose from, it doesn't matter which ones I pick for my preferences, I get "Transmit Program Failed: Device inquiry error."

Maybe I'm doing something wrong, but it always worked for me before. The sound editor is really useful for saving/retrieving patches, so I would like it to work. I'm wondering if it works with anyone else using the newest update of Snow Leopard. Anytime they "improve stability" that just means they sacrificed it somewhere else...

Anyway, can anyone shed some light on this?

Thanks!

Don't have Snow Leopard, I'm waiting for Lion now.

But an explanation on the MIDI ports:
It is set up in an apparently unique way for Korg's synths (the M3 nor KRONOS have this feature) to allow you to use the Radias as a MIDI interface for the rest of your gear at the same time.

You should have something like the following
Under MIDI In:
-Radias MIDI In
-Radias KBD/Knob
MIDI Out:
-Radias MIDI Out
-Radias Sound

So the names are quite self explanatory but sometimes they don't show up or it just takes a little getting used to. The MIDI In/MIDI Out ports are for referencing the actual ports on the back of the unit. E.g. you can connect a MIDI track in your DAW to the MIDI Out port to control another synth attached to the Radias MIDI Out.

For getting data from the Radias' front panel controls and its sequencer, etc, you want Radias KBD/Knob as the input.
For sending tracks to the Radias sound engine (and sending parameters for programming etc), you want the Radias Sound port as the output.

Thanks X-Trade!

That is usually how I have it set up and that's how I start up each session (it never saves it so every time I open the editor I have to reselect those MIDI connections, which is quite annoying). However, once it stopped working, I began trying every other parameter to get it working again. Alas, I believe this to be an issue with 10.6.8.

:(

Hopefully someone who has 10.6.8 can tell me if they have this problem. It's still nice to know why there are multiple MIDI connections when its connected to my computer.

Thanks.

Sorry, I was just being stupid. I had turned off most of my MIDI filters, so obviously it wouldn't work.
