PA1XPRO vs TYROS2

Post by neverkorgagain »

I just bought yamaha tyros arranger so i will tell u impresions in comparing this to similar (by price) arrangers.....

ill try to be objectiv as it possible :D

Some of first impresions.....

- pa1xpro more serious on stage, tyros looks like some big size plastic toy,

- for me, t2 has a better keyboard, and those buttons are more easyer to find whan u play in dark spaces.... when im playing in some club, where is no light near me.... one look at pa1xpro displaay and i could see any button on it....

- tyros have light buttons that can be seen from space  thats + for yamaha, and they works fine.

- better thing is touch display on pa1x... yamaha doesnt have it, just some buttons on side of it.

-much big different is that t2 is "heavy" 14.5kg, and pa1xpro 19.5 kg.

some of things i like on first view on yamaha..... it has 3 usb inputs.... 2 for flashdisks, and 1 for pc host...
pa1x has just last one....

styles on t2 can be played directly from usb disk, dont need to load, or copy them onto keyboard.

Playing of styles is more easyer on t2 because u can change folders as u like, and to put styles in them, and manage them as on every pc.... and u arent limited like on pa1x. There is no limitation how much styles u can have on usb, or internal hdd.

U have yamaha's speakers with subwoofers that makes this realy easy for home use, and they are very easy to install...

this is it for today, more will come later, as i compare sound, interface and any thig i found easy-heavy on both arangers.

Greetings to all.

I will not repeat my experiences again here but just to say that I owned the Tyros 3 and PA2Xpro and unless you are NOT performing or recording, then I would not even consider the Tyros. "Performance-wise" Tyros is very frustrating.
The OS is designed for the "Home-user". Yamaha styles are too basic and there is a lot of useful functionality that I use in the PA which is sadly missing on the Tyros - like "tempo lock", bass inversion (oh yes it''s there but try selecting it in the middle of a song), limited control over FILLs & VARs.... whoops, I said I wouldn't start my list again.....

Just my personal experiences...

All those things u wrote can be done on tyros, and on even much better way, i thought exact same as u on first day i bought this thing, and wanted to kill myself...

But next day when one "old" yamaha player show me some tips, i new i will keep it, and all i can say its very easy to convert korg rythms to tyros 2. I did all my pa1x and pa800 rythms...

sorry if i sound like negative commercial for korg, i just want to share my impresions....

only thing i dont like here on t2 is not having MANUAL BAS button.

Hi NKA

I owned my T3 for a long time - had many forum discussions about the OS discomforts and YES, you are right - you can do some of the things I listed on the T3 that I listed but what a pain - REGISTRATIONS, extra button pushes and several things that just were not there. It was interesting as my PA2X was not available for a short while and I switched to the T3 for recording and performing. I questioned some of the established and experienced T3 owners on the Yam forums asking about my concerns and needs and the response was "...if you want all that then you need to get a Korg or an Audya...".
All those things u wrote can be done on tyros, and on even much better way
At least tell me how you got around "tempo lock" for switching styles mid song and how you easily switch bass inversion on/off during a number, and how you instantly play the FILL of your choice followed by the VAR of your choice... the list goes on.....
As I have said many times before - just my personal experiences....

Cheers
