Please someone tell me this is possible? I use ableton and can sync it up and everything, but I want to be able to trigger the start of a pattern at certain points in my tune.
Failing this, where can I find out how to get the sequence I'ce got, out of the tribe and into live?
Thanks guys (and girls)

Not sure if this will help but you can trigger program changes from within Ableton. I can successfully do so for Banks A-B, but not C-D. It's not that C-D can't be done but that I haven't figured it out and haven't put any real time in it as I just put all my ableton related stuff in Banks A-B and my hardware only stuff in Banks C-D.
Off that tangent and back to my answer. You can send program changes to the EMX from ableton, though unless the EMX is stopped it will wait to change til the present pattern is finished with its cycle and then smoothly change patterns, much like the Pattern Set function on the EMX but initiated by ableton. Look on page 82 of the manual for info. Let me know if you can't get it working and I can work you though it or depending on your ableton version just send you the settings as an ableton file. I have to work in 6 hours and have already shut down ableton for the night, otherwise id give more detail now. But try it out for yourself and if it doesn't work I'll have more time over the weekend.

since you have a computer involved, I guess your aim is not going "hardware-only" anyway for your setup.
so i think the easiest way is to connect the audio out of you electribe with the audio in of your soundcard.
then setup the audio preferences in ableton so that it recognizes the audio in channel.
now you can record your clips into live (set the BPM to the same amount).
once you have the audio clips in there you can cut / fine-tune them in ableton and arrange them in your clip slots as loops.

It sounds like he wants to wants to do something with a mix of hardware and software, using Ableton to sequence his hardware while adding software stuff to it, like groups like Daft Punk do, rather than recording audio and djing your own production songs, like people like Bassnectar, Deadmau5, and Pretty Lights do.
