Hi folks
First of all a big compliment to this great forum.
My M3 will arrive in a couple of days so I thought let me go through this forum to see what other M3 users have to say about their M3.
Have been reading some posts for a couple of days and trying to find some cons and pros of the M3.
So far so good except for some folks having troubel with their touchscreens and wear of the signs on the buttons.
I'll be using the M3 mainly as a module in my music setup like the other modules I own(Motif ES,Roland XR,XV5080,Motu M5).
Cubase5 is the main sequence controller.
Have read about the EXB-FW and it seems very atractive but still want to get some cons and pro about it especially when combined with cubase.
Further some opinion about a sample package they selling on ebay.

Is it woth it and are these plug and play sounds?
A big thanks and let's keep up this great forum

EXB-FW - I had no interest in it, never bought it. Several on here that did never got it to do what they thought it would do. So you'll want to do some searching and get some opinions from people that have it.
SAMPLES - What samples do you need that the M3 doesn't have or can't replicate? I'd think an EXB-RADIAS would be a MUCH better investment. That thing is unreal.

Current Korg Gear: KRONOS 88 (4GB), M50-73 (PS mod), RADIAS-73, Electribe MX, Triton Pro (MOSS, SCSI, CF, 64MB RAM), SQ-64, DVP-1, MEX-8000, MR-1, KAOSSilator, nanoKey, nanoKontrol, 3x nanoPad 2, 3x DS1H, 7x PS1, FC7 (yes Korg, NOT Yamaha).
yeah and you can't even load those samples into the m3 (even if you have the max ram expansion...)
get the exb radias.

Congratulations on the M3. I use Cubase 5.0 also.
I have much higher praise for the M3m than I do for Cubase.
The M3m is one of the best musical purchases I've ever made.
Cubase is one of the worst.
That 14 gig sample library looks really interesting.
But 14 gigs? You can't load all that. And how would one
decide which ones to load without first trying them out?
Even so, I'm always in the market for new patches.
So let me know if you buy it & like it.

I'll weigh with a little different perspective. Being able to expand the sample palette is one of the most attractive things about workstations IMO. If you don't like your synth's take on the ultimate organ sound (or whatever) you have the option of importing or sampling a different one. Otherwise, just buy an M50. Plus, if you have another keyboard with a few sounds that you really love, but don't want to drag it to gigs just for those couple of sounds, you can sample it and have acceptable approximations in your M3. The fact that you can't load everything into memory at once is sort of missing the point. Is the hard drive in your computer the same size as the RAM memory? You swap things in and out depending on the project you're working on. Now, having said all that, the sample collection on e-bay only makes sense if you envision yourself having need of those sounds or if the M3 is deficient on those types of sounds. Probably makes sense to see what the M3 has on offer before pulling the trigger on it.

I respect all your advices and opinions.
At the end thats why forums are for right?
Have been working with cubase sinds it came out with the atari520 st.
So no turning back on that.Like I said before I use it only for sequencing purpose.
I don't do recording with it I use the 2480dvd for that.
I have always worked fine with hardware modules all of these years.
Have even bought and tried software modules last year(Motu machfive)but I'm not the kind of tweaking and tunning guy.I prefer the plug and play way thats why I went back to hardware(M3).
One of the main goal is to have a wide as possible variation of sounds for every sequencing job.
I don't do house or rap music but just top 40 stuf.
Some folks here advice me the Exp-radias I haven't look in to that yet but I hope it's not about tweaking.
And about the 14gb sample collection on ebay the samples are in 16bit/44.1 khz format.
I wonder if this format will be an issue in my 48 khz Cubase environment?
I know I can't have direct acces to all these samples whitout loading and onloading but you can't have more than 9 of your best ball players in the field right some have to stay on the bench!!!!

I would recomend you that you dont buy that Sample Library. it is a Scam,
not in the real sense but there is a lot of promises but 14GB for M3...i dont
even thing that Korg has 14GB of Archive for all of the synths i their history.
Who would produce that many Samples and NO! none of them is plug and
play, what you get is all stuff collected for free on the internet, give to you
in folders and subfolder, mostly none of it in M3 format, all in KMP and god
knows what, once you open it 2 hours later you'll trash it or commit suicide.
