Organ question in Kronos

Post by Bertotti »

Me again asking about the organ possibilities. I am still enamored of pipe organs and am curious if anyone has made a reasonable pipe organ on their kronos? I would dearly love to hear some attempts if any have been made! Thansk all!

Have you tried the pipe organ combi's? There's one I think is called 'Pipe organ on sliders 2' which sounds pretty nice to me. It uses 8 tracks and has some piccolo's for flutes, works quite well, and you can tweak it a lot. Eats up a lot of polyphony though, I'm planning on multisampling a new program out of it.

I do not yet have a Kronos some medical issues came first. I am awaiting a chance to buy come march next year. I really like what the Kronos has to offer but it is very invovled and I find that a bit daunting.
I know nothing about synths or keyboards. I know I want great organs pips are my favorite. I want a great paino, definitely in the Kronos. And sounds as close as possible to Moog and DSI! I think I can get there with a Kronos. But if I can't get the organs I want then I will look elsewhere. I think it is possible to get the pipes I am ooking for but I haven't heard them and no one here in South Dakota has a Kronos for me to hear. So I hope some one here will help me out. Thanks Bertotti

Bertotti,

You will definitely be pleased with the pipe organ sounds in the Kronos.

Imo no one but yourself can say if the organ pipes included in the Kronos suit *your* tastes and *your* requirements.

Btw, I don't expect a general purpose workstation or synth to have extensive pipe organs multisamples, that is with all the registers of a baroque organ and all the registers of a classical organ. So if you want to have a baroque or classic organ in your Kronos - or in any other workstation - you'll probably have to load user samples, although, according to the VoiceNameList document, the K has a few registers like "reed", "mixture", "full". I'm (also) in baroque music and I can say the same applies to harpsichords.

Ditto EXer. Flexibility is limited, especially if you think in terms of pulling and pushing stops and alternating swells and greats. That said, I do like the presets that are available. Just remember, they are presets with "limited" flexibility. You have to think like a keyboard player and not an classical organist when actually playing the organ sounds in the Kronos (if that makes sense).

But the pipe organ combi is really fun. I'm not a purist in this area but it sounds better to me than what I've heard in other workstations.

Thanks everyone. My whole keyboard quest started because of a dying Kombal organ I grew up with. I want a solid organ action and great sounds. I have sensed decided I needed whicheans really want a good keyboard. I am sure now I will have two boards one with a good solid dual manual organ keys and a Kronos! Oh the horror! Hahaha thanks for your help every one! Bertotti!
