Best save/load strategy

Ok, I have another one:
Now, I know it has prolly been dicussed over and over, but the search still doesn't work. I tried reading most of the 4-5 last pages of posts, still not sure how to do this.
I did some work (samples and sequencer mostly). Did a "Save All" to a directory I created on the HD.
The next time I turned it on, I wasn't quite sure what to load, so I selected everthing.
I ended up with no sound in the piano A:000 and no samples loaded in the sequencer.
I had to turned it off, turned it back on, ended up just picking the .sng file and .KSC (not sure of the extension). Then everything was ok.
My question is, how do you save your work in one step, and load also in one step, and find yourself where you were before the last save?
If someone as a link for a previous post, I'd really appreciate it. I find it very confusing as loading everthing didn't do to good.

Because "Save All" is not a true "Save All"

it's the first time that I see that
very confusing!!

Thats missinformation someone told you, Save ALL is a SAVE ALL!
Exactly as it states, ALL, but that depends on what you define as ALL.
The Synths ROM is not Included in ALL and its not ALL and no synth
saves its ROM under ALL...ALL means ALL of your stuff you created.
The problem with Dniss is that when he chose ALL (which is correct)
he checked the CLEAR RAM&EXis BOX...and it wiped the internal ROM.
Restart the Synth and then Load, this time check only CLEAR RAM.

IMHO, only save what you need.
If your project doesn't involve any special synth programs specifically made for it (that you're not going to keep for other projects anyway), then you don't need to save any PCG.
If you've been working on a song, then surely just save that song (and it's associated audio tracks - not sure how that works).
If you're not working with custom samples then don't save any sampling data.

Hello Dan,
May I asked what is fixed? I'm still not sure what I did wrong here. I assume it's not the saving part, since save ALL well, it's save ALL.
Am I correct in assuming you're refering to the fact that I selected all my saved files to load and ended up missing some stuff?

Denis

Yes I know you're right. That's what I ended up doing.
In my mind it shouldn't work like this. I should be able to save everything (Save ALL), without overwritting factory prgrm and combi unless I say so. And loading should work the same way. When I selected all files to load, my samples weren't there.
Also, by saving all in 1 step, you ensure nothing is missing.
Different parts seem to be using different schema for saving and Save ALL doesn't appear to be saving everything, set lists are saved differently.. I think I'm just confused about the whole process, and the fact it has a bug just add to my confusion.
Cheers,

I disagree. Since the Kronos allows you to overwrite any program or combi at any time, what happens if you edit a program later that was originally used in your sequence. This kind of file management gets complicated quickly if you edit your pcgs a lot.
The way I do things on my Triton Extreme is I "load all" for a certain band or project I'm working on, and then when I finish working, I "save all". Anything in between is then added to the project. This could include loading extra samples or programs from other pcgs.
This is a very sure way of always having your stuff ready for the project you're working on. It's however somewhat of an unnecessary hassle if you actually don't edit and move or erase sounds a lot.

The issue is with Save All and KSC files; in 1.0x the saved KSC file includes references to RAM samples only. If you then load that KSC file and choose to clear all other samples, you remove all the EXs samples in the factory preload (everything except the ROM bank). See the thread referenced above:

Hope this helps,

I've just lost all my samples cause they were not saved on "save all".
Three hours of work are gone...
