KORG TR splitting sounds

I wanted to look through the whole manual, when I just realized it was too much for me.

So here is my question!
How do you split sounds on a KORG TR?
can you split sounds? For example, put strings on the left side of the keyboard and pad on the right side of the keyboard.
Is this possible? If so, how do you do it?

You have to do this in Combi mode. Anything that involves more than one sound is done in combi mode. Combis consist of up to eight programs, and they can be split, layered, velocity switched, controlled by the two arpeggiator, etc.

There is a blank combi (only one from factory settings) in the last slot of the last bank. Write over one of the other combis you don't like (factory settings can be restored later if you have to, from Global mode).

I think there is actually a section in the manual on splitting sounds (key splits).
