microKONTROL Issues

Hi everyone!

I've been borrowing a microKONTROL for the past two years to work in Max/MSP and I finally bought one from ebay a few days ago. In the times that I had used the borrowed one, I never had to install any sort of software, and it always started up in "Play" Mode (as it should.)

So the ebay one shows up today, looks fine and lights up, but I can't get Max to recognize it and the text that usually shows up on the controller in "Play" Mode (Pan, Volume, etc.) is not there. I've gone ahead and installed the drivers, but with not being able to see any text, I'm just hitting things at random now.

Any thoughts? This could easily be something minuscule that I've looked over, but figured I'd throw it up here...

i've changed computer (running windows 7 and abelton

my micrkontrol isnt showing its display

now i feel silly ...

i just tried the contrast knob on the back : )
