How do you move banks to a new location?

Post by rhino4 »

How do you move a bank of voices to a new location. I have Brass and Woodwinds and it loads it into user G. I already have some voices in that location and would like to move them to a different location. How can I do this so I can then load the Brass and Woodwinds voices?

When you load a .pcg file you can:
-- load selected portions of it
-- load specific banks into different locations

When you save a .pcg file you can specific what to save, e.g. a single Program Bank, or whatever.

Regarding Brass and Woodwinds, you could load that to some other location than User-G if you wanted. If you go to Disk mode and browse the brass and woodwinds.pcg file, the open it up, you can keep opening until you get to the Programs\Bank U-G. If you select "Load" you can either load it to the default U-G or pick a different bank. You could do the same with the Brass and woodwinds Combi bank.

Regarding moving your existing bank the easiest way would be to:
-- perform a SAVE .pcg command in disk mode, ONLY selecting those sounds -- i.e. the User-G Program Bank. You could give it a file name of "my_bank.pcg".

Once you save the .pcg file, you can turn around and re-load it to a different bank number.

After you have everything loaded in the locations you want, then perform a final "Save.pcg" to capture the final locations. Then in the future, you have that .pcg file as a backup.

I created an app called PCG Tools, maybe this could help you a lot managing your programs/combis.

See my signature for more info.
