EMC - Korg Pa User Bank Manager on Pa3x

Post by Squeeeze »

Has anybody used this program and could provide a review on it.

I have a huge range of styles and this thing seems to be a solution to use rather than install on the 3x and delete if there are no good ect.

Any feedback ?

I thought EMC was just a style converter, I didn't know you could actually audition a Korg Style with it.

I bought this application from EMC. I only wish to warn you about some things that I discovered after I bought the application.

- It will not let you rename the styles. This function is disabled because it requires a decompression of the data, that would make the style 3 times bigger. Remember, KORG never disclosed information required to properly build 3rd party applications.

- I found the GUI too complicated for something that should be very simple.

- I came across multiple weird bugs. I am a software engineer and I am capable of properly installing the application and using it.

I do not wish to tell you that this software is bad, my intention is to warn you. Always and always decide for your self.

I am wondering if someone who knows Ric Freak can let him know about this...it is SUSPICIOUSLY close to his Style Manager software....

In my opinion Ric Freak's software is way better than this. The two applications are nothing alike; its only the concept behind them that is the same, PA Style Management. If that were true than Wave Xtractor is also a copy of Ric Freak's software and EMC - Korg Pa User Bank Manager is a copy of Wave Xtractor. It is way easier to research and program an application from scratch than to try and "convert" an existing executable into code .

I understand what you wrote Sir. When you say "copied" I assume that you literally mean EMC copied Ric's source code, which is close to impossible unless Ric's source code was open source for a while. Even then, if you test both of the applications you will straight away notice that they are used differently.

I bought this EMC Korg PA Bank manager software for my PA3X and it does NOT work what it says it does... I spent hours creating banks and on the end it could not save my work... It saved only "names" but no style data.

I did contact EMC via e-mail and Mr. Klaus seemed interested in fixing it at first but then his responses slowly faded out after couple of weeks...

It seems to be working in PA2X mode but for my PA3X it's not good

I think it's a waste of money for it being as it is now and KORG should remove it's advert from korgpa web site!
