I just viewed the Korg M3 Xpanded Update video and it has a " View Track " feature I don't see ( Could be just getting old )
on the Kronos that I would like to request from Korg to add in the next OS update pretty please.
See my other post: looking at that screen is more fun than actually using it, for many reasons (missing mouse support with a part of it's functions, graphical glitch in mouse selection, stone age DOS file system and functionality below the polished surface, extremely short file name limitations etc.).

Actually those two screens (KRONOS (Track Edit) and Fantom-G (Song Edit)) are two different perspectives.
In Fantom-G, each of the MIDI track shows a MIDI Phrase, rather than a MIDI channel. Each phrase can be full multichannel MIDI file.
On KRONOS, each MIDI track is tied to a specific MIDI Channel.
For direct comparison, you need to show the Fantom-G screen from Phrase Edit function. That's where you can do same editing as on the KRONOS, (copy/paste... etc).
What's omitted from Fantom-G at that level is MIDI phrase/clip management, like on a DAW, where you can slice and join MIDI clips from different regions in a song. Other than that, Fantom-G MIDI sequencer follows the same features as in a DAW for pattern based editing. Copying/pasting clips doesn't make a new copy of the MIDI data, but just create a pointer. Most users get confused at that, because they are used to copy/paste on workstations. That copy paste function is done in Phrase Editing, not Song Editing on Fantom-G.
Roland Fantom-G6 ARX1, Korg M3-m exb-Radias, Korg Z1-18v, Roland MC-808, Roland MC-909, Korg microKontrol.
My Fantom G is not in reach right now, so I will answer from memory:
You can, for example, not click a track with a mouse and move it. Same limited mouse functionality within edit windows: you still heavily rely on buttons and jog wheel operations - which does not make any bit of sense with a mouse available for fast operating. This has driven me nuts again and again.
For other gear, see my signature: I have used that (except the Kronos) with the Fantom G as well.
Files have different character lenghts:
- some physical files (songs etc.) have 12 characters
- phrases are 4 digits numbered throughout by the Fantom G (0001 etc.), and in a file directory you will have NO clue at all about their content
- internal directories offer slightly more information up to 15 characters, as far as I remember. In comparison you can name a song in the Kronos with 25 characters.
Instead of editing a clip by mouseclicking it, you have to press a button and go to the edit widnow. The phrase concept is only good for pattern based music and extremely annoying for everything else. If you, for example, copy a phrase and edit it for a variation, you in fact changed all references. Within the phrase concept, you first have to save the phrase with a second name/to a second slot, and only then you can edit it without changing all the basic phrases. Etc. Etc.
I could write a long essay about the funny Fantom OS and it's funny sequencer.

However, if it's too much to ask all at once -
We'd settle first for the update to the OS itself in the Kronos, then the editor.
I happen to believe the word " Workstation " was meant to mean " ALL-IN-ONE " device personally.
And to be honest, the Kronos has mostly everything you could want in a workstation,
just needs a bit of tweeking like the Track View feature the M3 has.
If Key Transpose is used in Global, does it affect the Song. I normally play with the Key Transpose set to -1 to match my guitarist who is always de-tuned a semi-tone.
DO Ineed to Transpose a MIDI file before loading it into a Song or will the Global transpose be applied after the MIDI note from the Song?
