At a gig my Korg triton suddenly frosted up on me and hasn't been working since. I found the forum and was wondering if its fixable.
It turns on fine, none of the buttons work and all the notes just sustain and Midi does the same thing. Is there anyway to fix it or does it need a tech? can condensation be repaired?

Lordbucket,
Frosted triton! Wow. Was it outside or in a car for an extended period?
The symptoms you describe sound like disconnected components (buttons and midi issues) or like ice expansion may have actually broken a component (sustain).
The first issue you might be able to fix just by checking to see that everything is seated (chips) or connected (ribbons) as they should be.
The second issue, actual physical damage, is probably one that you'll need to see a tech for.

FYI, SKB and some other ATA rated cases have a dust seal that also prevents a lot of moisture transfer if humidity and cold are issues for you. Also a desicant pack, like the silica that comes in camera or electronics packaging, can be stored in your case and will pick up a lot of the moisture that can cause this type of problem.

ok. I took it apart today and checked the chips and ribbons but no luck getting it back to life.
The longest circuit boards labelled yamaha hk669 and 668 looks like it was wet at one time and there are old mineral and particles on it, everything else looks spotless on the inside. I think the XK669 and 668 are the problem.
could this board be cleaned? The touch screen diisplay seems to be working perfectly on the other hand.
