PA800 or PA3XPro

Post by Fransman »

Since a few months I own a Yamaha PSR S910. Before that I played a Korg PA500, and I liked it a lot.

The S910 definitely is a very good keyboard, especially the voices are superb.
But... I don't like most of the Yamaha styles at all.

So I'm planning to change back to Korg.

Korg PA800 is around for quite a while now (2006). They are still available in the stores.
And at a reasonable price now, compared to a few years ago. Probably due to the release of PA3X.

How do you compare PA800 to PA3X?
Is PA3X worth the (huge) extra amount of money?
I'm not a professional musician, and only play for myself at home (pop, rock, ballads).
Will the PA800 be a step up from PSR S910? :?:

I'm not a professional musician but I bought PA3X because it is the top of the keyboards! yes, it's expensive but you have to spend much money also for the pa 800, then....

I'm sorry but in Milan I paid my pa3x 61 2600 €, new, not used or demo. I found Pa800 elite 2000 € full price. For only 600 € ....

Honestly spend € 2000 for pa800 and 2600 for pa3x ... I preferred the pa3x.

In the Netherlands you pay about 3.000 euro for PA3X (61 key version), and about 400 euro for PAAS speakers.
A new PA800 costs about 1.700 euro (never saw an "Elite"version in these areas by-the-way).

So in fact in my country you can buy 2 PA800's for 1 PA3X.
Is it twice as good / worth such an amount of extra money...?

Maybe I will buy me a PA800 and wait a few years for the PA3X-price to drop.
That is, if I get my S910 sold for a reasonable price...

I'm in the process of making a decision... I didn't decide yet.

Any information is appreciated.
I'm particulary interested in folks who made the upgrade from PA500 or PA800 to PA3X.

pa800

I own a PA800 but tried the PA3X and in my point of view it is not worth the extra money. The sound source is the same with some tweaks or so. Here in Portugal the price is almost the double.

In that case Fransman I did own a pa500 and now a PA3X and the difference is BIG. Not only the sounds and styles are better but also the build quality, keys, effects, sampler, editing etc. Definitely worth the money.
Like Doriva I also paid only 2600 Euro for the PA3X. You have to look around.
