Smart media to sd

Post by lionofjudah82 »

Good evening, so have bought the SM version of the esx1 and was wondering if any of you know if one of those smart media to sd converters work? It's the one that actually acts as the smart media card and you plug the SD card into it. Would save me lots of time as the little zoom mrs-8 uses SD, so I could pretty much create my samples etc and quickly pop them into the tribe. Any help as always is much appreciated.

Btw have only joined in the last week and some your threads are awesome, some mega helpful stuff here ! thanks.

Hi! I may be wrong but i didnt think there was an SM-SD adaptor in production..? There is a company that has a prototype but it has yet to be made for release. There is a thread on this forum about it.

You may be thinking of the SM - XD adaptor. I have one of these that works well with my Roland MC909 but the ESX is a little picky about what make and size of XD it likes!
I just use a 128mb smart media card and use a usb card reader to get stuff to and from my laptop.

Still not in production. Best I found was an SM to XD adapter on eBay. I'm actually on the forum right now because I can't get the rat bastard to format. I want to load the new UK Bass pack but not going to lose all my new patterns. So.... Time to post another thread and see if anyone can help. And yea, these forums are great. Awesome way to find info and meet people with similar interests. Most... are very helpful.

There's one cOmpany that has the business model pitch online but nothing in production. I've emailed them, twice, no luck. I'm using a SM to XD. The XD works fine but the MX won't format it. I've read online that the SM's are very delicate and so much as the acid from fingers can ruin them. Or they ship and are DOA. I'm going to try the sysex dump tonight after work. Kind of a hassle.
I've also contacted several KORG service centers to see if theres a retrofit to SD kit, no luck there as well. When the time and $$ is right I'll upgrade but for now it's not really needed. I'm just worried about hardware failure or theft, mainly.
