Road case for Kronos 73??

Post by miden »

Did a search for this subject but the forums search engine came up with over 4000 "matches" most of which did not relate at all!!

I am looking for a hardcase style gig case for the Kronos 73, if anyone has any suggestions?

The Gator 76 note is perfect EXCEPT it is .2 of an inch to low inside...length and width are perfect, but the height yep .2 that is point 2 of an inch to low....the back of the Kronos must be pretty high (I have not bought one yet but I plan to)

I was hoping to not have to go for a custom build, as this method is usually way more expensive..

Thanks

Thanks McHale, but THAT'S the one that is too short in height...the Kronos is 5.71" high and the internal height of this is 5.50...so it is not high enough to take what I suspect is the rear part of the Kronos...

Yes for some reason the 61 note Kronos is 5.28" inches high (not 5.71), so this case in 61 note format would work well...

Gator makes a deep version of the 76 case - GKPE-76D-TSA The inside is
8" H x 51-1/4" W x 20" D, which may be too deep. See what you think.

I was also looking at an SKB case (for my 88 key). Would appreciate any feedback on fitting.

I have the 88 key version of the case I posted. It fits perfectly and is a very sturdy case. MUCH cheaper than the SKB flight case I bought for my Triton Pro over 10 years ago!

Thanks McHale...that is REALLY interesting as the Korg PDF flyer I have says the 88 and 73 are both 5.71" high, but the internal of that case is 5.50....

So there must be some "wiggle room" yes?

That is good if so, as I will buy that case instead (I mean the one you recommended - but in 76 note size)

I just got a lightweight hard case from Roadcasesusa. Thye have 4 levels of case design, depending on the usage. I got a level 2 for my K61 for $179 shipped. It is very nicely done and custom built to the sixr of the keyboard. This is my second case from them and both are well built and moderately priced. The have a website or you call to order.

Can someone please confirm why the Kronos fits this case, when the case specs CLEARLY say it is .2" too short?

IE, Kronos 5.71" high, case is 5.50" high.

Sorry guys but just saying you have one does not fill me with confidence when the specs are quite clear!!

Does the lid actually "press" onto the back of the Kronos? Or is there some clear space???

Did you have to modify the padding to get it to fit??

These are well over $400 out here so I need to be sure before I buy it. I am about a 14 hour road trip from the nearest stockist, so it is a bit expensive to return if it does not fit....

I think they must have the 88 case. For whatever reason, the 88 case (GKPE-88-TSA) is taller. The inside dimensions for the 88 are: 6.63” H x 59” W x 19” D. I have one of these for the 88, but haven't put the Kronos in it yet (the Yamaha is in it right now).
