How can I load presets to the R3 from the sound editor patches (microkorg, MS2000...) without overwriting the sounds I already got in my R3 ?

You cannot do that. Any program that you load will replace the program you tell it to replace, and you have to pick an existing one. Same goes for for program libraries (sets of programs): loading a library will completely replace alll the old ones with the new ones.

BUT, You can save any program or library that is currently loaded on the R3 to the computer, so you can get them back anytime you want. So even though you have to overwrite the program locations that you load from the computer, you never have to lose anything so long as you save them to the computer first. This means you never have to worry about losing anything, so long as you save them to the computer first and keep multiple backups to removable memory for duplicates and for offsite storage. Fires and catastrophes do happen, so keeping extra copies of important stuff in multiple locations, like maybe a safe deposit box, will save your ass if the worst happens.

You do not even have to backup the original factory presets for the R3 because there is a permanent copy of them in ROM that you can reload at any time. So, when you use a computer for backup, you have an unlimited number of programs that you can use on the R3 by loading 128 programs at a time from a library, which are organized into 8 programs in 16 banks (A through P).

You load patches from the editor librarian software. There is nothing to press on the R3 to do that, unless you haven't already disabled the write protect. It's time for you to read the owners manual and the editor manual because everything you're asking is already described in them. If you don't have the manuals you can download them from Korg's website.

Definitely! :D

While the forum is a great place to go for help, by all means... read the manual first.

Here. I highlighted the part you failed to read or understand.

The R3 Sound Editor Owner's manual describes everything you want to do in the following sections:

•Opening a library
•Saving a library
•Receiving programs from the R3 synthesizer
•Transmitting programs to the R3 synthesizer
•Saving a program to a file
•Loading a program from a file

The editor manual is located at "C:\Program Files\KORG\R3\Owner's Manual\Manual-E.html", if you installed it to the default location under Windows. There is also a shortcut if you hit the Start button and look under Program Files, Korg, R3.

It describes how to load programs and libraries, in general. You will still need to download the zip file containing the MS2K and MK factory presets from the website:

http://korg.com/uploads/Download/R3Bonu ... 040000.zip

You will also need to read the R3 Owner's manual if you get an error when transmitting the programs to the R3, because by default the Memory Protect feature is enabled that will prevent you from changing anything permanently on the synth until you turn that setting off and write it to the global settings.

See, I did read the manuals before I told you to do so. I frequently suggest reading the manuals first because doing so will save you an enormous amount of time and effort. I don't say it to be condescending or insulting. It is merely a fact and wise advice, to those who care to heed it.
