Stand

Post by Kinyo »

Hay guys im looking to invest in a two tier stand.

Im looking for a stand that can hold my microkorg as well as my korg emx-1

Looking for something which isn't over the top expensive.

Thanks

Both keyboards are lightweight so a standard X stand with a 2nd tier would be more than adequate.

Personally, because I use heavier keyboards and tend to abuse gear a bit, I prefer a double leg. If you can possibly see any way you'd need to support say two 88 key weighted boards at some point in the future, then double-X is what you want now.

I think GC is selling them for under $100 (single leg 2 tier may be around $65). That is less than half what an Apex slant stand would cost. I got the On-Stage 2 tier for use at church because I wanted a set up on site I didn't have to break down every week. So far it's been stellar; no issues about stability, footprint, strength, or adjustability - I'm using it with a Trinity 76 and Triton Extreme 88.

--------------------

Gig Tip - Non-skid shelf liner is the new duct tape as far as keeping stuff in place on stand arms or on top of keyboards. The great thing about it is that any weight on it just makes it work better. And no tape residue to deal with.

You can pick it up at the Dollar Tree ($1 for 2 meters) or Walmart.

The other keyboard player I work with at church plays a Rhodes Suitcase with the slick round top. He was forever balancing and worrying about his mac and aux controller sliding off. Gave him some of this and his gear not only doesn't move, it won't move at all even when pushed.

Good Stuff

Was thinking something like this...

I don't know if it will be good for the job or not?

Looking for something that is easy to transport as i will be playing live gigs as well.

Also im a little worried about the size of the holders, just want to make sure that the micro and the emx will fit comfortably as well as firm on the stand.

Its easy enough to make a tray to hold the micro if you feel that the stand is too big.

But that was part of my reason for mentioning the non-skid shelf liner. Even small objects (like my harmonica) make this stuff work -- my harmonica resides on my triton on the deck just above the JS, it's always at a slant steep enough to make the harmonica slide off. I use a small piece of shelf liner as a pad and it stays in place all night, even if I get a bit wild and the stand rocks as I play.

Hi Kinyo,

I use a single X version of that stand. I don't know the width of the Micro, but those extension arms can be tilted inwards and locked at any angle down to horizontal, bringing the extensions closer together the lower you drop them. Obviously, this will affect the vertical distance between the keyboards. Do you have a store near you so you could try before you buy?

Below is the link for the stand I'm using. You can just see the trigger release under the right-hand side of the first tier, this lest you set up or break down very quickly. The second tier is adjustable for slant, and can also be adjusted to bring it closer to the first tier by angling it at the base of the 2nd tier arm.

The first tier is pretty deep. At the second notch the width is about 18", I play my TrEX standing with the stand on the 4th notch so you have a bit lof leeway for how high or low you want to go.
