Kaossilator 2 bug?
I enjoy my KO2. Much more useful than I expected.
I think I found a bug, something to fix for a firmware update.
If I save an 8 beat loop (audio sample in this case) and later load it without setting the loop length to 8 beats, it loads and plays fine but the progress display only shows four beats. However, when I then record a loop into the other loop track, even though it SHOWS four beats, it expects 8 beats. It is kind of weird - like it was set to 8 beats when the sample was loaded, but the little beat position marker thing didn't get changed to go with it.
Also they have GOT to set up a way to merge the two loops into one. This would be the undo feature everyone wants. Or have them play sequentially.... Giving 16 beats. I seriously hope this is possible and made to happen. It would be much more fun if the two tracks could be combined as a way to layer with an ability to undo.

Hello, i have noticed the same bug, i did also send some other suggestions through email to the support but did not get any reply until now.
Here my other suggestions:
1st:There should be also MP3 support, i want to use the device as an mp3
player and also have the ability to play music and record loops while the music is playing.
Currently the audio player stops when switching to the sound patterns or an other menu.
2nd: When i save a loop it gets automatically saved with a defined prefix,
there should be an option to set a name (scroll abc via touch slider) for each loop.
There is also no other way to modify a file name or delete a file on the device,
3rd:When i Load a loop, modify it and want to save it, the loaded loop gets overwritten.
There should be a question in front to verify the overwriting process or create a new file.
The options on the slider could be:No/Cancel/Yes (Left/middle/right)

Oof - so there's no option to save a loop, once loaded, to a different file slot? That seems kind of unnecessarily limiting.
I agree about the file name / prefix / deletion thing as well. To me, it seems like some aspects of the software were poorly thought out or rushed (either that, or deliberately limited to encourage people who want to do more than make fun noises to buy other products).

One other thing I noticed, maybe obvious:
Loops only load into the "track" they were recorded on.
Also, if you have two loops recorded, and save, both are saved to the same file and will later always be loaded together simultaneously. So, if you have two loops you are cross-fading, etc.. and you want to load only ONE of the two later, you will have to load both, delete the track you don't want, and so on.

I agree. The firmware should be updated!
By the way, unwanted loop can be removed in file player!
My suggestions:
1. Possibility of individual save&load for LOOP I. and LOOP II. without stopping the music!!!
(We want to run a master recorder and create a song using pre recorded loops stored on the SDcard!)
2. Add fnc+mic button = hold mic input!
(This improves the ability to connect an external audio source: eg. Monotron, Monotribe...)
3. improve file-organization...

Good ideas. I was able to remove unwanted loops, but of course the Ko2 keeps saving new loops with increments file numbers - it does not fill in the file numbers that were deleted.
So I guess the way to be efficient and not run out of save slots if you use this a lot is:
1. Use file browser / finder to delete unwanted loops
2. Rename all remaining files in ascending order to gather them and free up larger loop numbers.
I haven't tried step 2 but am sure changing file names would be ok...
Another needed update is to make sure the loop length display big is fixed. The visual graph of loop length is not working properly. There are times when it visually shows a four beat loop but actually requires 8 beats to be a "full" loop.

Another small bug - when the volume is set to the loudest setting, some distortion kicks in in a weird way on some sounds. One click below max and the sound is clean... Strange. It is like a toggle.
How long does Korg take when releasing firmware updates, historically speaking?
One cool thing: the pad is multitouch when you load up a drum kit! Not for any other sounds.

Ok - so you cannot simply rename and consolidate files on the SD card using a laptop - Something weird happens to the file names and order if you attempt this. There must be some index file hidden on the micro sd card somewhere. annoying. Maybe korg plans to release an editor / librarian. I hope so!

Well, that would be too bad. I see it has a "software update" function, and there are some other bugs where text is displayed on top of other text after loading. Seems like it was released prematurely, so let's hope they break from their tradition and get this up to a fully functional form.Anonymouse wrote:MisterP - If going by Korgs Kaossilator track recorded then don't expect any firmware updates. It is 'as is'
I got an email back about the 4 beat / 8 beat problem (that loading an 8 beat loop when a 4 beat loop is selected does not change the -display- to reflect the change from 4 to 8 beats, while in fact changing the behavior from 4 to 8 ). They said it was deliberate to keep a loaded loop from disrupting a pre-recorded 4 beat loop. I will have to experiment a bit and see what happens. I don't understand the logic since in fact an 8 beat loop is loaded an playing, and if the other loop track has a four beat loop in it, it shouldn't matter what is happening with the loop track just loaded.
Anyway, it is a fun toy as-is but there are going to be problems if you can't choose what slot to save files to and if you can't delete files on the KO2 itself. Guess you're supposed to buy new SD cards?

how long does korg ensure support on their devices , generally ?
If they dont are could it be community supported by fw hackers ?

I Own KAOSSILATOR 2 Firmware=v1.10
Sometimes KO2 fails to switch on ? How comes ? and how to fix this ?
